WIAA D4 Semifinals – Who Plays For Gold?

We're back.  The WIAA State Tournament is “So Back” where the Green Bay area welcomes eight boys teams and 24 girls teams to town.  They have traveled the “Road to the Resch”.  Prep Dig will be breaking things down from the recap and the results to some names people need to know.

Thursday's D4 semifinals featured Eau Claire Regis vs Monetello and Heritage Christian vs. Blair-Taylor. Regis is back for its 9th state tournament appearance and was a D4 runner up in 2024.  Heritage Christian and Montello are making their first appearances to the final four.  Heritage Christian and Eau Claire Regis survived a gauntlet to get to the state tournament.  Heritage knocked out #2 ranked Sheboygan Christian in the sectional semifinal while Regis defeated #6 Edgar, #1 McDonell Catholic, and #7 Clear Lake to get to Green Bay.  These battle tested teams proved to pay off in Thursday's semifinal match. 

Heritage Christian 3 Blair-Taylor 0

25-12, 25-16, 25-15

For their first time being at the state tournament, Heritage Christian wasted no time jumping on the board early.  They hopped out to an early lead and never looked back with a 25-12, 25-16, and 25-15 sweep of Blair-Taylor.  

Ainsley Ellis Ainsley Ellis 5'6" | S Heritage Christian | 2026 State WI is a true QB1 who just runs the show for Patriots.  With Heritage Christian in system, she had plenty of options to find a one on one matchup.  Her top target was Chelsea Poskocil Chelsea Poskocil 5'9" | OH Heritage Christian | 2026 State WI on the outside who led all attackers with 12 kills, but also found favorable matchups for Lucy Boeck Lucy Boeck OH WI , Katrina Dyck Katrina Dyck MH WI , and Addie Graebert Addie Graebert OP WI .  In the backrow was libero Nina Dorger Nina Dorger L WI .  What a spark for this squad, constantly communicating, interacting with her teammates, big celebrations, and collected 13 digs. 

The Patriots had to neutralize Chloe Medenblik Chloe Medenblik 6'2" | RS Blair-Taylor District | 2027 State WI , the 6'2 lefty who brings a big swing out of the middle.  She hits a heavy ball.  She led the Wildcats with 11 kills. 

Eau Claire Regis 3 Montello 0

25-23, 25-17, 25-17

Montello brought quite the crowd, winning the “Road to the Resch” by selling the most tickets of any school in D4. The momentum was there for the HIlltoppers to start, but it was the experience and balance of Eau Claire Regis that would prevail.  

Izzy Reichert Izzy Reichert 5'11" | S Eau Claire Regis | 2026 State WI , the UW-La Crosse commit for Regis runs quite an offense.  She manages the court with all the positive intangibles. She connected with three attackers who had double figures in kills with Olivia Morning (12 kills), Lily Lewis Lily Lewis 6'0" | MB Regis | 2026 State WI (13 kills), and Maya Ridenour Maya Ridenour L WI (11 kills).  Reichert would finish with 34 assists and 15 digs.  

Montello was led by the O'Malley sisters in Charlee O’Malley Charlee O’Malley S/RS Montello | 2028 WI who had 9 kills and 9 assists and Brooklyn O’Malley Brooklyn O’Malley 5'11" | MB Montello | 2026 State WI with 7 kills.
