–

This was an incredible day of volleyball full of new faces (to me) and a lot of exciting talent to talk about.

As a guy who focuses a lot of his time primarily on the Michigan kids with a touch of just about everybody come club season, being on tape for this weekend's stop in Indiana for the Exposure Tour was a lot of fun. While I get to see a lot of Indiana kids throughout the club circuit, there is so much talent in this state. It is simply so hard to see all that the Hoosier state has to offer.

For this event, I saw a lot of great stuff from all aspects of the gym. From the pure positional separation of it all, to the communicative grit and effort that these Indiana kids bring to the court.

And last, but most certainly not least, #JusticeForLiberos, let's talk about some of them BOSS 'bros at the Indiana Expo. If there is one thing above the rest that Indiana does well in the volleyball world, they teach some high level ball control and intense defense! We have a lot of 'bros to chat about!

[player_tooltip player_id='794405' first='Harper' last='Drzakowski'] - Danville

This player is no one trick pony. Put [player_tooltip player_id='794405' first='Harper' last='Drzakowski'] anywhere in the back row and she will deliver. From a variety of zones, this player is making plays steps ahead of her opponent. She absorbs the hard driven balls well and can chase down the off speed with ease. Her ability to adjust to the different angles was impressive.

[player_tooltip player_id='623163' first='Lauren' last='Voudrie'] - Boone Grove

[player_tooltip player_id='623163' first='Lauren' last='Voudrie'] makes the game so much fun to watch. When she steps on the court, no matter what drill it is, she plays this game with a lot of great energy. Whether in reception or in defense, Voudrie has a clean touch on the ball. I was a fan of how much she could better the ball because of her technique and read of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='900815' first='Sophia' last='Rios'] - Warsaw

If you're a volleyball nerd like me, [player_tooltip player_id='900815' first='Sophia' last='Rios'] is a lot of fun to watch for several reasons. For starters, she is VERY technically sound. She possesses a controlling touch on the ball with her platform that is very hard to teach. Rios harbors a lot of attributes to that of the men's game in this 'scoop' technique on passes and digs that often see more prevalent in the men's side. This particular skill is something I have been wanting to see transfer over to the women's game. With a player like Rios that does it so well and smoothly, it shows the benefit.

Megan Mascari - Terra Haute North Vigo

Megan Mascari is a very springy player. Maybe not something you often hear when speaking on players in this kind of position, but its the perfect way to describe Mascari. Her fast twitched nature allows her to get around the ball and be in great position to make the tough plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='909076' first='Dyllan' last='Ryan'] - Valparaiso

I really enjoyed this players effort and pursuit throughout the skills portion of the showcase! [player_tooltip player_id='909076' first='Dyllan' last='Ryan'] takes great measures to put herself in the right spots to be a defensive highlight. Her touch is clean and keeps the rally going. Ryan also showed very strong reception skills that surely aid her team's in side out opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='562298' first='Cala' last='Haffner'] - Carroll

She's very well one of the nations best for several reasons. [player_tooltip player_id='562298' first='Cala' last='Haffner']'s touch on the ball is pristine and she reads the game at a very high level, much like [player_tooltip player_id='900815' first='Sophia' last='Rios'], she shows a lot of attributes to that of the men's approach to pass and defense. And she does it extremely well. Haffner is the perfect mixture of scrappy, yet poised and ahead of her opponent.

[player_tooltip player_id='546286' first='Megan' last='Bailey'] - Lake Central

I loved [player_tooltip player_id='546286' first='Megan' last='Bailey']'s overall presence on the court. You can see the IQ at work here. She reads the opposing team well and is able to put herself in elite positioning to make a play. Bailey is surely poised for an electric club season with Boiler Juniors.

[player_tooltip player_id='586969' first='Marlowe' last='Weaver'] - Leo

[player_tooltip player_id='586969' first='Marlowe' last='Weaver'] is not only a really exciting libero for her pure defensive and reception skills, but she does something that is very underrated when it comes to her position. That is the out of system stuff. Weaver puts up a really good out of system ball, maybe one of the better ones in the gym. I like her approach to the game and her willingness to push the edge of the envelope.

[player_tooltip player_id='776371' first='Mattea' last='Capozzi'] - Harrison

Alongside Weaver, these two were becoming quite the tandem albeit I doubt the two ever played next to each other much, if at all, before. [player_tooltip player_id='776371' first='Mattea' last='Capozzi']'s defense is scrappy and she is one that will sacrifice her body for the play. And it's not all platform either, whatever it takes to get the ball up, is good to go! Whether it was on her forearms, with her hands or taking one to the shoulder or chest, it was on the money more times than not.
