One of the biggest early season tourneys is upon us this weekend. The Tour of Texas will bring the best teams in the state of Texas and six other states will also be represented in the competition. Almost every one of these teams in the invitational divisions will most certainly earn a coveted bid to USA Volleyball Junior Nationals later on this summer. We will be front and center this weekend to cover the event in person and will have some amazing stories on both individuals and teams to report back on next week. Here are some interesting things to look out for this weekend.

In the 16 Invitational division, there are three Power Pools. Power Pool two is led by a team who finished third overall at USA Volleyball Junior Nationals in the Open division, Alamo 16 Premier. We previewed them for the first tourney of the year last weekend in which they went undefeated and won the championship. They look in midseason form already and have added some talent to a team who has some serious team chemistry. After watching them in person already this year, they will be tough to beat. [player_tooltip player_id='918835' first='Claire' last='Bolton'] looks electric on the pins and has the trust of her teammates. We love watching her play as she has the ball control in every aspect of the game to make an impact. The right side duo of phenom [player_tooltip player_id='523942' first='Piper' last='Pease'] and high-flying [player_tooltip player_id='804372' first='Kya' last='Flores'] gives them an immediate x-factor that not all teams have. Two dynamic point scorers from the opposite position give everyone a matchup nightmare. All-World setter/hitter [player_tooltip player_id='482109' first='Sydney' last='Whisenton'] is no stranger to anyone in the volleyball environment. She can do it all on the court at a very high level and her teammates love her. I spent a little bit of time with this team in December at one of our showcase events and I got to know their personalities a little bit better. All I can tell you is that they are fun and elite. Poised for a breakout year in my opinion (in regards to college scouts) is [player_tooltip player_id='482081' first='Jordyn' last='Daniels'] (who is playing up an age group) and high-motor middle [player_tooltip player_id='722075' first='Charlie' last='George'] who can definitely play any position along the net. Look for this team to have a say so in who will come out on top of the Gold Bracket.

MadFrog 16 National Green is one team with enormous potential all throughout their roster. They are one very fun to watch bunch. The athleticism in every position is off the charts. [player_tooltip player_id='512953' first='Trynity' last='Alsaid'] is someone who I think all college coaches will be eager to offer a roster spot to once they study her all around game and unique ability to stay calm in clutch situations. She is a big time game changer who adds a lot of value to any team she is on. Another solid leader is [player_tooltip player_id='765128' first='Aleyna' last='Bramschreiber'] who has not only the pedigree of a talented volleyball player, but the skills to back it up. If you look up ball control, her picture should be net to the definition as she has the total package in every skill set. [player_tooltip player_id='827004' first='Nia' last='Livings'] should add some serious heat to this already deadly offense. [player_tooltip player_id='783413' first='Madison' last='Medina'] and [player_tooltip player_id='558308' first='Sofia' last='Williams'] along with others will help this team battle against anyone. One game changer that should be studied by all younger players is superstar libero [player_tooltip player_id='761993' first='Isabella' last='Osborn']. She is finally getting recognized by everyone in the volleyball world for good reason. The kid can flat out play defense and pass nails in serve receive. Look for this team to be a tough out for anyone. When they get some momentum, they are tough to stop.
