In our last edition of Indiana-based players playing in Kansas City this weekend, we talk about true freshmen who are tearing it up in the early part of this club season from around the state. Eight players from all over the Hoosier state are mentioned below, in alphabetical order according to their club name.

More of a pin attacker than a middle, Makenzie is a difference-making freshman ready for her closeup on the biggest stage this coming weekend. She's developed some pass-to-attack skills to go along with her very high and powerful attack touch, and is looking every bit the primary-passing outside she has the potential to become. On her Dunes squad, you can easily find her—-she's by FAR the biggest and strongest kid on this 15 Black team, and will be the primary attacking piece in the offense.

Big and physical, her footwork leads me to predict that Miss Minix will be more of a factor on the right pin at the next level. Tough to get past defensively because of her strong shoulders, her blocking technique and ability are currently ahead of schedule in her development. Transitionally, I'd like to see a bit more leg lift in her jump, but for now her ability to be an M2 is on full display with the 15 Black roster.

One of a pair of Yorktown kids mentioned today, Lauren's ability to be a second coach on the floor as a defensive specialist makes her highly marketable in this author's eyes. Already earning top honors in our showcases in the past calendar year, Lauren's fast feet and calm platform make the great majority of her first touches accurate and in-system.

Easily one of the top recruits in this class, Kendall's ability to take over a match was on full display this past fall, carrying the Tigers all the way to the state semifinal. Her First Team All-State honors were well-earned, and she's sprinkling in a six-rotation component that will make her even tougher to beat in the future. Compact and explosive, Kendall should be one of the primary attackers for any of her future high school or club rosters before she graduates in the summer of ‘29.

As a springy and athletic middle or outside, Liah brings a speed and jumping ability that just isn't seen in this age group that often. Able to jump high enough to make most blocks look irrelevant, Miss McCarter's raw strengths lie in out speeding, out jumping and out swinging her opponents. With some development and time, Liah should be seeing more recruiting eyeballs on her in the near future.

Broad-shouldered and strong, Amy is one of the rare natural middles in this class. Often, freshman middles look more like newborn giraffes—-long, clumsy and a bit slow. Not Amy. Her transition is quick, her arm swing is explosive, and she's got a court vision allowing her to be productive hitting any angle. At current, she's an M2 for the next level, but I wouldn't be surprised that after training at PHP this season she becomes a more well-rounded middle, both on offense and defense.

Explosive and fast, Claire beats many opposing blocks because of her fast transition and her approach jump surpassing most she opposes. I also like her quick arm swing, as she uses a ton of “snap” in her arm and wrist to put the ball away quickly from the middle. Currently looking every bit the M2 for the next level, her club season will really dictate how far she can go in the rest of her development.

Easily the most athletic setter we're watching in the class of 2029, Rylie's ability to turn a bad pass into an in-system set is mature beyond her years. What helps that ability is her flawless footwork, strong and high hands and a knack for feeding the right hitter in the right situation. We've seen her at our showcases in the past calendar year, and has already proven to us her ability to be a plug-and-play setter for the next level.
