It was Chicago for USAV Nationals where she was playing for ASEVC 15 Premier out of New York. Henry was only an 8th grader, but was already a standout playing up an age group for a relatively unknown club. Her length and athleticism was apparent, so was her upside. Now Henry is at IMG Academy ot of Florida and has given her verbal to Penn State. She's heading back to the Northeast and will be part of a uber talented recruiting class. She played on the U19 National Team this past summer with future Penn State teammates in Nejari Crooks and Taylor Harrington.

Olivia Henry's first write up in 2023.

Sophee Peterson was named National Gatorade Player of the Year for 2025. Some major names have owned that award. She preps at Byron Nelson High School where all she did was lead them to a 42-0 record and a top spot in the national high school rankings. She is playing for TAV 17 Black Jon this club season where they are already off to an undefeated start with 21 wins. This group won the 16 Elite Division of Triple Crown in 2025 and will be in the hunt once again. She will stay in state and head to Texas A&M, where this national championship program is building some huge recruiting momentum.

Westley Matavao is another athlete I saw play as an 8th grader at USAV Nationals in Chicago back in 2023. Now she is one of the top players in the country. She will stay close to home and play for UCLA where she brings an all around game to the table. She can serve receive, pass, and her explosiveness is what sets her apart. When you hear her make hand contact it just sounds different. She spent time with the U19 National team this summer where many of these top athletes did. Ranking these top outside hitters is splitting hairs. She will be in action this weekend at Triple Crown for Forza 1 North 17 One.

The California kids are all over these national rankings which includes Ireland Real. Real is “The Real Deal” - I just had to include the pun. I remember seeing her as a 15s playing for Wave at Triple Crown, knowing she was going to be a top player in her class. The length, the athleticism, the overall joy and spark she plays with is so fun to see. Star quality! Real is 6'4 where she has a high contact point, is a lethal scorer from the backrow, and has a the “X Factor” about her game. She will take her talents to Texas where the Longhorns have commits coming in with plenty of USA International Experience.

Another top pin in the Class of 2027, we head to Florida for Isabel Incinelli. The future Texas A&M Aggie is 6'5 and an absolute mismatch nightmare. She can play on the outside or right side where she is equally terminal from both. I remember seeing her as a 15s player at Triple Crown where top programs were at her court from an early age. She has spent time in the USA gym where she's been part of the U19 National Team. This past high school season she was named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year. She will play for Winter Park 17 Armour Black this club season.

The blend of finesse and power. That's Shaye Witherspoon. She 6'3 outside hitter out of the St. Louis area has spent time with the USA U19 team, won Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, and gave her verbal to pay at Nebraska. She isn't the first Witherspoon as the radar as older sisters Layne (Augusta University) and Maya (Vanderbilt) have been successful during their careers, all playing for Rockwood Thunder. Shaye will be playing for Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite where they will be in a power pool at Triple Crown this weekend in Kansas City.

Arizona Storm out of the Phoenix Metro just knows how to develop high level players who can succeed in the USA gym as well as the collegiate level. Tessa Larksin falls next in line of Storm greats as a six rotation outside hitter. I recently saw her play a couple weeks ago at the Northern Lights Qualifier in Minneapolis where the Arizona Storm 17 Thunder team took home the title, earning a 17 Open bid. Larkin makes the game look effortless. She knows how to hit the right angles and can change speeds where the defense is always guessing with her. There is a maturity to her game that will translate extremely well at the next level.

Marissa Jones out of Georgia is just different. The 6'2 Class of 2027 brings a whole new definitely to length and athleticism. She is a state champion for Woodward Academy and has spent plenty of time in the USA gym most recently this past December where she was joined by other top players in the country. Her next step will be playing for coach Matt Ullmer and the Kansas Jayhawks. This is a huge commit where she has the ability to elevate KU to the next level. With her ability to affect every facet of the game, her upside is exciting not only at the collegiate level, but the international level as well.

There is an upside to the game of Taylor Harrington that is so exciting. The 6'3 middle blocker had a big summer with USAV playing for the U19 squad, teaming up with future teammates Olivia Henry and Nejari Crooks. What Harrington brings to the table is length and speed that makes for a dangerous combo in the middle. Penn State picked up one of the top middles in the Class of 2026 in Kendall Northern and with Harrington coming to town as well it is going to be a dangerous 1-2 punch.
