Outside hitters at this level must do more than just rack up kills — they're expected to score in transition, handle high balls out of system, pass serve receive, and defend at a high level.

College coaches should evaluate more than stat lines. Watch first-step explosiveness, arm speed, and how hitters manage the block. Can they tool hands? Change tempo? Score from the back row? Elite pins transition efficiently from pass to attack and stay terminal even when the set isn't perfect.

The best ones also close blocks, pursue tips, and bring steady energy every rotation. Complete, six-rotation impact players separate themselves here.

Now, let's dive into the pin prospects coaches need to see this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='722409' first='Peyton' last='Saxlund'] has exploded onto the radar this season. Her approach has become more dynamic — quicker tempo on the left, strong last-two steps, and a heavy arm that generates high-contact swings. She's scoring not just in-system, but in transition, showing the ability to recycle off the block and finish extended rallies. Her confidence has grown, and it shows in how she demands the ball late in sets. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

At ASICS Presidents Day Classic: Peyton will be aggressive in transition and look to terminate high balls when the offense tightens.
