now holds the No. 1 spot in the state — and she didn’t ease into it, she separated herself. Foster-DeVold led the state in kills this season and finished nearly 300 ahead of the next closest attacker, a gap that reflects not just volume, but dominance. Her résumé continues to stack nationally as an AVCA Phenom selection, Triple Crown showcase standout, and participant in the NCR RTDP.
What makes Alayna different is her ability to impact matches from anywhere across the net. She’s not just a left-side scorer — she’s a matchup problem. Foster-DeVold consistently runs one of the most dangerous 3-routes in the state, creating separation with tempo, length, and a high contact point. She’s terminal in transition, composed out of system, and advanced in her ability to read and tool the block. Against disciplined defenses, she still finds ways to score.
Just as important, her work ethic continues to separate her. Foster-DeVold has put in the reps behind the scenes — refining her footwork, expanding her offensive range, and committing to strength and skill development that shows up clearly on the court. She competes with presence, leads with urgency, and consistently raises the level of those around her.
From a projection standpoint, Foster-DeVold profiles as a high-impact collegiate pin with the physical tools and offensive range to contribute early in her career. She can handle volume swings, adjust to faster tempos, and stretch opposing systems laterally. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Alayna Foster-Devold – #3 Overall | #2 Middle Blocker | North Dakota 2027
Ranked #3 overall and the #2 middle in North Dakota’s 2027 class, Alayna Foster-Devold has built a reputation as a dynamic force at the net. Why do you want to play college volleyball?
~It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to continue playing your sport after high school. I think that being from North Dakota limits you to a smaller standard and I want to change that. I want to show people that anyone can be successful and find what they are good at. I want to inspire younger girls to dream big and put everything that they have into that dream to make it a reality. This sport means so much to me and I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my college years playing the sport that I love. My job isn’t finished yet and I can’t wait to grow as a person and as a player.
What does your training schedule look like in-season and off-season?
~In-season includes a lot of strength and agility training along with team practices. I work on skills at home as much as I can such as ball control. In the off-season I continue strength training and continue growing my skills at camps and scrimmages.
How do you balance school, sports, and your personal life?
~It can be challenging sometimes but I just remember the goal that I have made for myself is worth all the hardships and sacrifices. I make sure that I still have time to just be alone so I can relax. I make time for my family and their support is the one of the main reasons I can balance it.
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
~Strengths: I am mentally tough, I have an intense work ethic, I am vocal, I take this sport very seriously, I am focused, I have a powerful swing and smart ball placement, my defense is getting better with every rep.
weaknesses: my serve could be stronger and more consistent, I could improve my blocking technique, I could do better on reading the block on the other side of the net.
What are your academic interests or intended major?
~As of now I am undecided but am interested in business so I would probably go in that direction.

Foster-DeVold hits with a very heady arm and she was definitely a top performer as well as on our All Expo team for Session 1. She is close to 6’0 but she displays a lot of athleticism and range to execute a powerful attack. Foster-DeVold can swing from a variety of locations, run different routes, and use different angles to get the job done. She adapted quickly to different setters in different drills. That isn’t always easy as a middle.
