Let's expand a little further on last weekend's triumphant teams.

The Nebraska Bid Tracker looks a lot different after this month's multi-weekend qualifier gauntlet. This stacked mid-March slate started with GJNC tickets for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Synergy, [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 16 Elite, and Premier Nebraska 15 Gold at three separate venues. More teams from these clubs piled on a week later. We've briefly highlighted the qualifier standouts from these extraordinary squads, but we can delve deeper into the athlete spotlights.

These GJNC bid breakthroughs we've covered have put Nebraska's best 2028s in front of a national audience. This is the part of the calendar where we find out which players know how to elevate their game when the stakes are highest.

These sophomores answered the call and will likely do the same at USAV Nationals this summer.

[program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Synergy finally snagged its Open bid at Philadelphia's Northeast Qualifier, and elevated defensive play was key to the effort. Of course, Wallraff influenced that phase, no matter where she slotted into the 17 Synergy lineup in Philly. She proved her readiness to take the next step when she commanded the Elkhorn North defense last year. Now, she's making further gains against the nation's top 17s competitors. USAV Nationals provides the best opportunity of all.

[program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] has not been afraid to pull its top 17s defenders from the Class of 2028. Paneitz has been a multi-year contributor for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Black and will now add another GJNC appearance to her resume. The Lincoln North Star sophomore began her ascent last fall with an outstanding defensive campaign for the top-seeded Navigators. Paneitz has followed that up with a backcourt performance that lifted 17 Black to a Nationals berth via NEQ. Even in the far-out confines of Philly, Paneitz is finding the spotlight.

Our run of defensive specialists continues. Bridges has cemented herself as one of the state's elite, regardless of position. She has oscillated between DS roles and the libero jersey for VCNebraska 17 Elite, becoming an indispensable asset while playing up a year. 17 Elite was one of our earliest entries on the Nebraska Bid Tracker after earning a bid at the first Northern Lights Qualifier in January. However, Bridges and 17 Elite pounced again to "double qualify" at NEQ, in addition to a podium finish at Triple Crown NIT. Bridges has been in the middle of it all.

Premier Nebraska 16 Gold wielded a well-rounded frontcourt effort en route to Mideast Qualifier glory. But, even with that balance, Froehlich's takeover moments were plentiful. The Gretna middle blocker is a game-changing 'M1' who has become a matchup nightmare for opposing defenders. 16 Gold has harnessed Froehlich's range and diverse route tree to create unstoppable first-ball plays. She can terminate in front of the setter or detonate on the slide. Froehlich doesn't need to be in a two-hitter rotation to operate on the right side, either. Nothing will limit this elite athlete at the net.

Wellensiek remains a do-everything setter for Premier Nebraska 16 Gold. Her consistency, pace, and effort do not waver whether 16 Gold rolls out a one-setter offense or a 6-2. This Johnson County Central standout piled up accolades and milestones on the small-town scene last fall, but her reach extends far beyond the rural confines of JCC. Wellensiek opened up massive seams for her hitters at MEQ and was not afraid to dig heat down the line. Ball control gains have raised the standard for USAV's defending 15 USA champs.

VCNebraska's tremendous setter depth has been on full display on the qualifier circuit. We alluded to Hunnicutt's new role with VCNebraska 16 Black, but she has competed like a returning asset to this stacked squad. She pilots three-hitter rotations with great finesse and has a knack for finding the hot hitter. Hunnicutt also has the foot speed we'd expect from a VCN setter, allowing her to snare passes drifting off the net. The Northern Lights Qualifier offered further testament to Hunnicutt's leadership and sky-high ceiling.

Why not stay on the setter streak? Before VCN 16 Black's Minneapolis triumph, the team's 16 Elite counterpart set the bar at NLQ's second weekend. Weber operated the 16 Elite system toward the Gold bracket and maintained her outstanding form on Championship Sunday. We can look back to Triple Crown NIT as another highlight weekend for Weber and her team. GJNC is already guaranteed to have some of Nebraska's best 2028 distributors.
