AZNQ 16 Preview

<p>The last of the national qualifiers for AZ and this one is going to be a big one! Currently there are only 2 16's teams with bids at the moment so expect this to be an intense battle to get these 4 bids! I would expect a lot of 3 set matches (mostly on day 2) as teams battle to make the gold bracket. All 4 teams that make the gold bracket will get the elusive bid that everyone is seeking. </p>   <p>Here's a look at the contenders we're most excited to watch, along with our predictions and the teams firmly on our watch list heading into the weekend.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Day 1 Top Match Ups</h2>   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rev 16 Elite vs Storm 16 Lightning</h3>   <p>This is one of 3 big matches coming from day 1 of AZNQ. Revolution 16 Elite enters this matchup loaded with talent, and the offense is driven by two key playmakers: [player_tooltip player_id='891279' first='Allison' last='Wong'] and [player_tooltip player_id='806295' first='Layla' last='Jarvis']. Wong controls the tempo with smart decision-making, consistent distribution, and the ability to put hitters in great positions to score. On the outside, Jarvis brings a dynamic presence as a pin hitter, using her power, range, and versatility to pressure defenses in every rotation. If those two get into rhythm early, Revolution 16 Elite can be tough to slow down.</p>   <p>On the other side of the match up you have AZ Storm 16 Lightning who has the pieces to be a dangerous team (and make that deep run), led by a strong mix of ball control and offensive firepower. In the back row, liberos [player_tooltip player_id='769265' first='Faith' last='Bahun'] and Maybelle Perkins give the team stability with their defense, serve receive, and relentless hustle. On the offensive side is setter Brinley Witt, who brings poise, smart distribution, and the ability to keep hitters involved. Lastly on the pin, Kooper Cogill provides a strong scoring threat with her athleticism and ability to terminate points. If AZ Storm 16 Lightning is sharp in first contact, they have the talent to compete with anyone.</p>   <p>This is a match up we will for sure be swinging by to see who comes out on top! Only one of these teams will make day 2 which is a shame wiht how much talent they both have!</p>   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Zona VBC 16 Black vs EVJ 16 Elite</h3>   <p>Another match up where only one of these good 16 teams will make it to day 2, we have EVJ 16 Elite which brings a balanced lineup into this matchup with impact players at every level of the court. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id='916661' first='Kamerynn' last='Medlicott'] provides a strong presence at the net with her blocking range and ability to score in transition. On the pin, [player_tooltip player_id='895335' first='Elyse' last='Wolf'] gives the offense a dynamic option with her versatility, shot selection, and ability to put pressure on defenses. Anchoring the back row, libero Isabel Miller brings steady serve receive, defensive range, and the kind of energy that can shift momentum. EVJ 16 Elite has the talent and balance to be a tough matchup for their pool on both days.</p>   <p><br>Their opponent Zona VBC 16 Black has the pieces to make a deep run, they are led by a strong defensive core and key front-row talent. Libero duo [player_tooltip player_id='608301' first='Annycia' last='Arenas'] and Kaylee Olding should give them stability in serve receive and backcourt defense, helping extend rallies and create transition chances. On the pin, Audrey Hesse brings versatility as an attacker who can contribute in all six rotations, while middle Madelyn Hackett adds size and presence at the net with her blocking and quick offensive potential. With balanced talent across the floor, Zona VBC 16 Black looks like a team capable of making a run in this tournament! </p>   <p>This match up is going to be a intense battle that should go the distance. Expect this to be a back and froth battle that sadly will end one of these teams AZNQ. </p>   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Atomic 16 Smack Elite vs Club One 16 Titanium</h3>   <p>Last match up to watch bring us to two hyper competitive teams that have very similiar styles. On the Atomic side you have a team that comes into this matchup with a dangerous front row and multiple offensive weapons. On the pins, [player_tooltip player_id='834728' first='Lena' last='Mearig'] and Millie Phillips give the team versatility, scoring ability, and strong all-around play across rotations. In the middle, Brooke Watson and Karla Almodovar provide size, physicality, and a major presence at the net as blockers and attackers. With balance on the outside and strength in the middle, Atomic 16 Smack Elite has the talent to challenge any opponent.</p>   <p><br>Club One 16 Titanium heads into this matchup with a well-rounded group led by playmakers in every phase of the game. On the pin, [player_tooltip player_id='916668' first='Emily' last='Penuel'] gives the offense a reliable scoring option with her versatility and ability to produce in key moments. Running the attack are setters [player_tooltip player_id='888795' first='Zoe' last='Fincher'] and [player_tooltip player_id='888814' first='Kylie' last='Sherrill'], they provide steady leadership, smart tempo, and strong decision-making to keep the offense balanced. In the back row, libero Roxy DeWitt anchors serve receive and defense with consistency and hustle. Club One 16 Titanium has the balance and talent to be a strong contender.</p>   <p>This matchups will create some of the most competitive moments of day 1. These two will go toe to toe and will battle for a spot on day 2. Expect this one to be a very close battle to end day 1. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Noteworthy Teams</h2>   <p>What's crazy about this tournament, is if you don't take first in your pool, that means your tournament is over on day 1. Only the pool winners will advance to day 2, and have a chance at a bid. Here are a few contenders we should see securing that bid on day 2! </p>   <p><strong>AZ Sky 16 Gold - </strong>Number 2 seed coming into this weekend AZ Sky 16 Gold enters the tournament with a talented lineup built around key contributors at multiple positions. On the pin, [player_tooltip player_id='823795' first='Elana' last='Clark'] gives the offense a dynamic scoring option with the versatility to impact the match in every rotation. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id='778155' first='Ava' last='Martinez'] provides a strong net presence with her blocking range and ability to finish quick attacks. Helping run the offense is setter [player_tooltip player_id='620649' first='Vanessa' last='Gridley'], who brings leadership, tempo control, and the ability to distribute the ball to all hitters. With balance, athleticism, and playmakers across the court, AZ Sky 16 Gold has the tools to make noise this tournament and get that elusive bid that they have been chasing! </p>   <p><strong>Aspire 16 Alpha</strong> - Is a strong favorite to get a bid this weekend and has a number of talented players that can contribute for them at any point. One can argue they might be the deepest team in this tournament with how much depth they have. However some standouts on the team include, libero [player_tooltip player_id='960298' first='London' last='Aldous'] as she brings steady serve receive, defensive range, and nonstop energy that helps stabilize the team. Running the offense is setter [player_tooltip player_id='787997' first='Jade' last='Smith'], who controls the tempo with smart decisions and the ability to keep hitters involved. Jade is a game changing setter who is a player you should get out and see this weekend. Lastly at the net we have middle [player_tooltip player_id='882773' first='Matilda' last='Hinder'] who provides size, blocking presence, and a reliable scoring option in transition. </p>   <p><strong>Livewire 16 Prime- </strong>Is a team that we can see winning the whole AZNQ let alone getting the bid. Leading the charge is libero [player_tooltip player_id='888726' first='Carsen' last='Steinkamp'] who anchors the back row with consistent passing, quick reads, and the hustle to extend rallies while being one of the best energizers on the team. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='888725' first='London' last='Clark'] directs the offense with poise, tempo control, and the ability to put hitters in position to succeed whether they are in system or out of system. On the pin, [player_tooltip player_id='826371' first='Haylie' last='Johnston'] provides a go-to attacking option with her athleticism, range, and ability to score in key moments.
