Signal-callers are stepping up in Nebraska's Class of 2029.

In case you missed it, we've been breaking down the latest update to our Nebraska 2029 watch list, which has added more than 100 new names to our database. A few pin hitters have already been in the spotlight, but we have plenty more athletes to showcase while this refresh is still on our minds. We have a long journey ahead with this freshman class, so this post-release coverage is just the beginning.

But every journey has its first steps. These setters have made their case to enter the discussion right away among their 2029 peers.

There's that Lincoln Standing Bear-Nebraska Juniors pipeline again. We mentioned this connection in our pin hitter feature, and Didrichsons extends the narrative on the club's 15 Red roster. This well-rounded setter can play around the dial for 15 Red and knows how to find the hot hand along the net. Didrichsons thrives as a transition distributor who can get her feet to the ball no matter where the dig ends up. That leadership has set her apart as she competes with many of her high school teammates on the club side.

[program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 15 Black gets another one. This squad got a shoutout in our pin hitter feature, and McCarter will maintain that spotlight at the setter spot. Her fluid, consistent delivery made an instant impression during our early-season visits to Great Plains venues. That excellence persisted as McCarter and 15 Black broke into the final round of February's ASICS Presidents' Day Classic. Unfinished business remains this spring, but we're already excited to see McCarter's future output on the rural scene with Adams Central.

We're just scratching the surface of Club Legacy's Class of 2029 talent pool. O'Neil already looks like a trendsetter among these freshmen and has piloted an efficient 15 Alpha attack this year. The team logged an impressive fifth-place finish at the ASICS Presidents' Day Classic and leaned on its sharp second contacts the whole way. That's where O'Neil is at her best, but she can also shoulder an attacking role at the net if necessary. Omaha Westview has a future building block at the setter position.

Tonjes is keen on carrying on the ball control pipeline between Ashland-Greenwood and [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last='']. She was willing to play various situational roles as last year's Bluejay squad earned its spot in the state tournament. Her adaptability has been a perfect fit for [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Black's balanced operation. This is another crew we'll be watching closely in Kansas City.

AVC 15 Blue has been quietly racking up victories against regional foes this year, and Hansen has had a consistent role in that effort. Her versatility as a dynamic setter-opposite has presented plenty of challenges for opposing scouting reports. Hansen led off her prep career with a wealth of starting experience for last year's Broken Bow High School squad. Her biggest triumphs have come with Antelope Volleyball Club, highlighted by an unbeaten run through [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last='']'s mid-March invite. Hansen and 15 Blue have our attention heading into Show Me.

We had to get South Central NE in the mix. Marsh is part of a scrappy, balanced 15 Black lineup that thrives on quality ball control and precise touches. We got a glimpse of Marsh's potential when she represented a growing Thayer Central powerhouse during last year's high school season. Now, her setting and right-back defense have raised the standard for South Central NE's next generation of club underdogs.

Let's revisit Premier Nebraska 15 Silver's big-time March outing at MEQ. Witt was arguably one of the top setters in the event's 15 American Blue division, steering 15 Silver to a third-place finish on the leaderboard. She brings ample physicality to square up with opposing left-side hitters in a 5-1 system. Witt also has the green light to take risks and open up chances for her high-flying middles. Last month's St. Louis trip could be the prelude to even greater accomplishments.

Playing up as a setter can be daunting, and ascending two age groups must be a Herculean task. However, Hoogeveen shows no signs of hesitation or apprehension when she competes with Premier Nebraska 17 Silver. This 2029 signal-caller has already seen quality reps on the Class A stage with Bellevue West. A fall gauntlet with the Thunderbirds primed Hoogeveen for any challenge she could face while sparring with the 17s this spring. Her agile feet and smooth hands were a difference-maker at MEQ and will keep setting the pace throughout the 2026 campaign.
