This article was shared with 150+ college coaches. Join PrepDig with 30% off using code: Coachable247

The Setter Hitter Libero College All-Star Event has become a strong environment for athletes looking to challenge themselves against high-level competition while continuing to grow their game heading into summer. In past years, I have been invited to attend this event in person, and it does not disappoint.

This year, the players featured below were asked to reflect on their experience at the event, the moments that felt most representative of their performance, and the areas of their game that are continuing to evolve as club season transitions toward Nationals, college camps, summer training, and recruiting opportunities.

What stood out throughout their answers was not simply athletic ability. It was the intentionality behind how they think about development.

The way they talked about emotional control, discipline, recovery, leadership, confidence, faith, competitiveness, and learning how to perform when the level gets louder all revealed athletes who are becoming increasingly aware of what higher-level volleyball actually demands.

Some walked away with awards. Others walked away with confirmation that their work is translating against strong competition. But across every response, the common thread remained the same.

These athletes are not waiting for the next level.

They are already preparing for it.

[player_tooltip player_id='790117' first='Sophia' last='Quinn']'s reflection on the CPA All-Star Event revealed a young athlete learning how to trust herself in big moments.

The moment she chose to highlight came during the Hammer Award competition. After initially feeling nervous, she made the decision to stop overthinking and simply trust the work she had already put in.

I should just rip it.

That mindset shift changed everything.

Sophia described bouncing balls, swinging aggressively, and feeling like she was catching a glimpse of the player she is capable of becoming. Winning four separate awards, including Hammer Award, Precision Server, Most Athletic, and Best Pin Hitter, reinforced just how impactful the weekend became for her.

Her summer plans show the same level of intentionality. Between AAU Nationals, beach training with MB Sand, daily [program_tooltip program_id='876208' first='SC' last='Rockstar'] privates, CPA strength work, gym training, and camps including Long Beach State University, Sophia is attacking development from every direction.

At the center of it all, though, is the type of teammate she wants to be. Confidence and kindness were the two qualities she emphasized most about herself, and both seem deeply connected to how she approaches competition and relationships on and off the court.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='895395' first='Camille' last='Day']'s reflection centered around composure.

After advancing through multiple rounds in the Offensive Sniper competition, she found herself trailing late and believing the event might already be over. Instead of panicking, she stayed calm long enough to deliver what she described as a “buzzer beater” winning hit in the final seconds.

That type of emotional control matters, especially for young pin hitters learning how to stay aggressive under pressure.

Camille talked extensively about how much CPA's detail-oriented coaching has impacted her growth over the last several months. Breaking down fundamentals, rebuilding mechanics, and being held to a high standard all seem to be shaping the type of player she is becoming.

Her summer schedule reflects that same work ethic. UA Next, multiple PrepDig showcases, the Mater Dei incoming freshman camp, private training, and recovery-focused routines are all part of how she is approaching the next phase of her development.

Away from volleyball, leadership appears to be a major part of her identity too. Camille shared that she participates in multiple school organizations, serves as Vice President of Kindness Crew, and holds herself to high academic standards while continuing to prioritize family and personal growth.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='727730' first='Gia' last='Bella Ellis'] described a player whose confidence is growing alongside her physical development.

After three years with CPA, she talked about becoming stronger, more explosive, and more complete as an athlete, improvements that became very real for her during the event while competing in multiple challenge finals and consistently reaching the 9-foot line.

What makes Gia especially interesting is how balanced her growth appears to be. She credited Coach Chris for helping her become more confident offensively while also improving defensively, while strength training with Coach Lynn has continued elevating her jumping ability and explosiveness.

The long-term approach to her development is very clear.

So are her goals.

This summer she plans to continue building strength, improving conditioning, competing in beach volleyball, attending camps, and pushing her approach jump from 9.1 to 10 feet.

Beyond volleyball, Gia also shared how leadership opportunities away from the court are helping shape who she is becoming. Serving as a student council senator and leading discussions during World Ready Week about the pressures student-athletes face reflects a level of maturity that coaches value quickly.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='524364' first='Hailey' last='Lee']'s reflection from the event revealed a setter who already sees the game through a very advanced lens.

The moment she highlighted was not centered around a flashy play. Instead, it focused on reversing the flow of the offense to create a cleaner one-on-one opportunity for her hitter, ultimately leading to a kill with only half a block in front.

That answer says a lot about how she processes the game.

After a year and a half training with CPA, Hailey talked about becoming more consistent, mentally stronger, and more complete overall as a player. Winning both the Best Setter and Setting Skills awards, especially while competing against older athletes as one of the youngest players in attendance, clearly reinforced confidence she is continuing to build in her game.

Academics also seem deeply connected to her identity. Hailey recently earned the Principal's Scholarship at Mater Dei High School after posting one of the top placement scores, a reflection of the same discipline and preparation she brings onto the court.

Her summer schedule remains packed as well, with Open Nationals, major college camps, and high school preparation all becoming part of her next chapter.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='770015' first='Kenley' last='Williams']' reflection from the CPA All-Star Event centered around intentionality.

She talked about feeling composed in a high-level environment, trusting the work she had been putting in during training, and becoming much smarter with her ball placement and decision-making under pressure.

That awareness is important.

Especially for athletes still early in the recruiting process.

After only a short period of training with CPA, Kenley already feels very focused on the details that elevate performance, hand contact, ball location, rotation, discipline, and consistency. Winning the Best Middle Hitter Award clearly gave her confidence that those adjustments are translating against strong competition.

What stood out just as much, though, was how intentionally she is approaching long-term development. Strength training, conditioning, college camps, and continuing to improve every area of her game are all central parts of how she views the summer ahead.

Off the court, faith, academics, and perspective appear to shape much of her mentality. Kenley shared that she focuses heavily on controlling her attitude, effort, and mindset, qualities that usually begin separating athletes long before recruiting conversations officially start.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='727069' first='Molly' last='Katovsich']'s reflection from the event centered almost entirely around teammates.

Even when she was not directly involved in the final touch of a play, she talked about constantly trying to encourage the athletes around her, mentally preparing for the next point, and helping everyone on the court feel successful together.

That perspective feels very setter-minded.

After three years with CPA, Molly shared how much her setter IQ and overall court awareness have grown throughout the process. Previous awards, including a setting competition title and this year's MVP recognition, continue reinforcing the confidence she is building as both a leader and competitor.

Her focus moving into summer is centered heavily around consistency and enthusiasm, not just technically, but emotionally. Camps, showcases, club opportunities, and continued training all remain major parts of her plans moving forward.

Away from volleyball, Molly talked about volunteering through the Breakthrough T1D Foundation and Camp Conrad Chinnock, helping others dealing with diabetes and mental health challenges, and spending time with people she values deeply. That sense of connection and care seems to show up naturally in the way she approaches her teammates too.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

[player_tooltip player_id='756619' first='Sahej' last='Ahluwalia']'s reflection revealed a young setter already thinking about development with long-term perspective.

Instead of focusing only on immediate results, she talked extensively about footwork, handwork, fundamentals, and building a strong foundation layer by layer over time. That patient approach seems central to how she trains with CPA and how she views growth overall.

One of the biggest takeaways from the event for Sahej was the opportunity to compete alongside older athletes and realize she belonged in that environment. Setting strong pins and middles, contributing defensively, and advancing into the top setter challenge group all reinforced confidence she is continuing to build in her game.

Even without winning an award, her reflection still carried a lot of belief in where her development is heading.

I know I am on the right track.

This summer continues building on that process through UA Next, college camps, beach training, strength work, and additional opportunities to train in Canada with a national championship coach.

Away from volleyball, Sahej described herself as someone deeply committed to building the right foundation as both a student and athlete while staying humble enough to continue learning through every stage of the journey.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Aniston Stoll's answers consistently reflected someone who values relationships just as much as performance.

One of the moments that stood out most to her from the event had nothing to do with winning MVP. Instead, she talked about quickly building relationships with athletes from different parts of the country and understanding how important trust becomes once players step onto the same side of the court together.

That reflects who I am as a person.

That line says a lot.

After three years training with CPA, Aniston described becoming increasingly detail-focused and learning how small habits eventually create bigger moments. That mentality appears to be shaping every area of her development right now.

Her summer plans reflect just how intentional that process has become. College camps at University of Montana, Grand Canyon University, University of Utah, strength training, vertical work, jump-setting development, and continued CPA training all remain major priorities heading into the summer.

Faith, academics, work ethic, and helping others improve all appear deeply tied to how she approaches both volleyball and life away from the court.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

For athletes looking to continue developing beyond club season, CPA Volleyball Academy has become a strong training environment focused on skill development, strength training, volleyball IQ, and long-term athlete growth. If you are ready for that kind of opportunity, registration is open.

📌 REGISTER NOW!

Thank you for making today's wins matter — one article, one player, one memory at a time.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247
