Five Liberos to Follow at Lone Star Regionals

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Texas is set to host one of the biggest and most exciting tournaments of the late portion of the club volleyball season this weekend, when the Lone Star Regionals come to Houston.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The tournament, which will reunite nearly 700 teams across 18 divisions between Saturday and Sunday at the George R. Brown Convention Center, in downtown Houston, also serves as a national qualifier, adding more charm and weight to one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Teams from all over the Lone Star State will make the trip to Houston to compete and, with them, will be some of the most talented players in the state. Very quick and technically sound, she contributes a lot in the back row for her team's success with accurate passing and solid defense. Her fundamentals are extremely well-developed and that shows every time she makes contact with the ball, as her ball control is truly impressive. Extremely dynamic and mobile, she leads their back row with her high-energy game. Dahl covers a lot of ground in serve-receive and is typically very accurate with her passing. Previously a setter, she has no trouble getting her teammates in good spots up at the net when required to take charge of the second contact. Whitehead is also very quick on defense and disciplined when it comes to covering her hitters, generating many second-chance opportunities for her team. Cano's game is very mature and consistent because it's strongly built on her ability to anticipate plays and be one step ahead of everyone else on the back row. The ball seems to just naturally come her way, and when that happens, she's always ready to deal with it, getting her body in the perfect shape to get it wherever she needs it to go. She's an elite defensive player who stands out for her positioning, but also thrives with her mobility and her ability to chase tips and deflected shots. Valdez's ball control is also excellent and allows her to produce well both on defense and serve-receive.
