I'm looking forward to checking out my first Prep Dig Gauntlet June 6-7 in suburban Milwaukee. Nine Iowa teams across the 15-17 age groups will be representing the state at the competitive, pre-USAV Nationals event.

I've been fortunate enough to have seen seven of the nine teams in person. One of the ones I did not catch, Iowa Premier 16-1, was written about by Prep Dig's Chris Fitzgerald in our "Going Gauntlet" series leading up to the show.

I'll be putting together previews for the rest of our state's teams. Here's a look at Iowa Impact 16-1 Elite.

I've been exposed to a lot of Iowa Impact volleyball this season. I saw its teams in St. Louis at the Nike President's Day Classic, the Iowa Impact tournament in Ankeny, the ASICS Show Me National Qualifier and the Mizuno JVA Midwest Challenge. It's been fun watching these squads improve as the campaign has progressed.

Impact 16-1 Elite is a great example of that. It's a team of talented individuals coming together throughout the year.

An 11th-place finish in the Open Division at the Mizuno JVA Midwest Challenge last month in Des Moines included highlights of what 16-1 Elite can be when it's connected. It went toe-to-toe with USAV Nationals qualifiers Iowa Select, which it took to three sets, and Iowa United 16-1 Elite.

When it's at its best, Impact regularly gets to a potent attack. That includes powerful lefty right-side hitter [player_tooltip player_id='896589' first='Kaylee' last='Hanson']. The Bondurant-Farrar junior-to-be brings a very heavy swing to the opposite pin with emerging technique and consistency. She has some of the highest upside of anyone in Iowa at the position.

Ballard's [player_tooltip player_id='728886' first='Lilly' last='Huntrods'] is an excellent athlete lining up at the libero spot. She's agile and explosive enough to be effective at the pin, which she did when watching her at the President's Day Classic, working through six rotations for a short-handed team.

[player_tooltip player_id='789386' first='Hanna' last='Fouch'] has been a breakout prospect on the club circuit. She was stellar as a Greene County sophomore in 2025 and has just lifted her play from there this winter and spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='819822' first='Tenley' last='Fried'], [player_tooltip player_id='946981' first='Julia' last='Turnquist'] and [player_tooltip player_id='991873' first='Abrianna' last='Mass'] are a formidable trio in the middle of the net.

Bondurant-Farrar's Fried can impact matches anywhere across the net thanks for a combination of agility, leaping ability and technique. Turnquist, from Urbandale, is an explosive athlete that has the flexibility to be effective in the middle or at the opposite pin. Pella's Moss shares the versatility gene with her club teammates, providing power in the middle and hitting on the right side.

[player_tooltip player_id='946974' first='Amelia' last='Cook'] and [player_tooltip player_id='952741' first='Adalynn' last='Harms'] were running the operation in a 6-2 system when I watched Impact 16-1 Elite. Cook, a student at Coon Rapids-Bayard, stood out for her consistency and feel for match flow. Harms, another Bondurant-Farrar product in this outfit, is a taller setter with the ability to swing with authority and throw of an effective block.

Turnquist's Urbandale teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='754572' first='Mia' last='German'], is a volleyball Swiss Army Knife. She can hit from either pin with bounce off of the court with the quickness and agility to get the job done in the back row.

[player_tooltip player_id='761437' first='Taylor' last='Gilbreaith'] lined up at libero with Huntrods working six rotations at the President's Day Classic. The Ankeny Centennial junior-to-be moves well and helps strengthen the Impact 16-1 Elite back row.
