Our look back at last year's sophomore stat leaders has turned into a trilogy. Varsity impact is not limited to upperclassmen, as freshmen and sophomores have established an escalating foothold among Nebraska's top prep programs. Part 1 and Part 2 have covered many of these 2028 trend-setters.

Of course, the talent pool we can cover here is vast. We're dialing up more of last year's fall memories, whether these athletes are club standouts or multi-sport stars on the small-town circuit. Recruitable athletes don't have to fit in a single mold, making a three-part series like this worthwhile.

Froehlich has a case as Nebraska's most meteoric stock riser in the Class of 2028. She saw some action as a freshman with Gretna, but her numbers absolutely exploded in Year 2. She put down 200 kills on a 0.334 percentage while becoming a clear leader in Gretna's in-system attack. The Dragons have leaned heavily into their 2028 stars, but we couldn't have anticipated the growth Froehlich exhibited as a sophomore. This has led to further highlight moments with Premier Nebraska 16 Gold, especially during the team's bid-earning triumph at MEQ. Another climb to the GJNC podium is next on the agenda for this show-stopping middle blocker.

Fremont and Nebraska ONE 16 Titanium are back in the mix. Fiscus was the primary catalyst for Fremont's offensive success last fall, exploding for four kills per set on a 0.200-plus average. However, Fiscus' willingness to shoulder attacking volume is only part of what makes her a compelling prospect. She has also wielded a ton of positional versatility, flip-flopping between both pins throughout her early prep tenure. This has been especially stark during Fiscus' spring campaign with Nebraska ONE 16 Titanium, where she has dazzled us on either side of the setter. Put her rocket arm anywhere along the net and let her operate.

The narrative we just painted with Fiscus can apply to Jacobsen, too. York High School looked to give their sophomore gem as many swings as possible last fall, allowing Jacobsen to blur the lines between frontcourt roles. She could terminate on quick tempos in the middle or split out for first-ball swings on the pins. The result was a 2025 season in which she piled up 366 kills on over 1,000 total swings. Her niche shifts in the VCNebraska gym, where Jacobsen's middle presence anchors the net for 16 Elite. GJNC will offer another showcase of Jacobsen's tremendous range and adaptability.

Vanosdall joined the ten assist-per-set club after a brilliant sophomore season at Platteview High School. This incredible average followed a freshman outing in which Vanosdall shared setting duties in the starting lineup. Once this 2028 gem got the reins in Springfield, she took off. Platteview remains one of Nebraska's most consistent small-town programs behind steady commanders like this.

Here comes the Omaha Fusion crew again. Humann got plenty of reps with last year's Omaha Roadrunners crew, finishing with seven assists per set and a wealth of quality digs around the dial. Her unique Roadrunners team put up some impressive numbers last fall, and Humann is applying this to the Nebraska Juniors gym, too. Omaha Fusion landed on our radar after a strong outing at the ASICS Presidents' Day Classic, so we were eager to see these athletes compete on the bid tournament stage. Humann seized the moment to lock up a bid and send Fusion to the USAV Nationals field. Stocks will keep rising in Indy.

Beethe has accumulated plenty of quality time on the big stage. Her tenure in Gretna East's contrasting jersey got off to a roaring start last fall, culminating in over 400 digs and so many more pinpoint passes. Prep Dig Circuit events have revealed Beethe's ability to adapt to any backcourt role or lineup, so her multi-faceted impact is no surprise. So, when she joined the Premier Nebraska 16 Black lineup for this year's club season, we expected big things. She backed that up with an amazing stay in Kansas City for the Show Me Qualifier. That bid ascent has put Beethe back on an upward trajectory for the summer and beyond.

We love a ball control player who can influence the game in more ways than one. That's a perfect description for Janssen, who has oscillated between front-row and backcourt roles during her time with Valentine. Her end line influence took precedence last fall, and the returns were extraordinary. She churned out 4.8 digs per set and was a mainstay for the Badgers' stacked passing lineup. And, speaking of passing, Janssen tormented opposing serve-receive patterns en route to 69 total aces in 2025. That's a player who understands the importance of first contacts on both sides of the net.
