Uncommitted 2027s Watchlist: Setters Setting Standards

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Class of 2027 has revealed a strong group of setters with a wide range of knowledge and skill sets. This group continues to raise the bar in more ways than one. No matter the situation, they are always finding and creating ways to set their team up for success.</h2>   Aside from setters being a part of every play, they are also key leaders and know when to take charge. When tensions are high and everyone is stressed, they get looked at for guidance to achieve success. Here are some uncommitted setters from the 2027 class that colleges should have on their radar.    Starting strong, we have [player_tooltip player_id='783768' first='Ayanna' last='Bell'], a lefty setter from [program_tooltip program_id='490821' first='Power' last='Plex'] 17 Broegan. Bell has played a key role in her team's success this season, even leading them to an Open bid. She leads this success with her high IQ, quick thinking, and the ability to move the ball around from anywhere. Ayanna also knows when and how to use her height and strong arm as an offensive threat. This is definitely one of those players who can come in and really change a program for the better.     Throughout the season, I have watched Lexi a handful of times, yet I never get tired of watching her performances. My favorite thing that Haller brings to the game is her insane amount of energy. After every play, she will be the first one to run over and hype up her teammate. Of course, that energy carries into her gameplay, creating the best opportunities for her offense. Defensively, she's not letting a ball drop without putting her body on the floor. Lexi truly embodies the definition of leadership and selflessness.     Caffery had an outstanding high school season this fall, coming one win short of making it to the State Tournament. Despite not going all the way, Leah led her team to a 28-8 record, averaging 9.4 assists per set. One thing I like about this setter is that although she isn't the tallest setter, she plays like she is. Caffery does a phenomenal job putting up a block and knows how to get around a block while going over on two. No matter the situation, she always remains composed and reassuring to her teammates. This athlete has a lot of qualities that college coaches look for in their setters.     I've seen Grace compete at various levels over the last three years, and she is always an athlete I will stop to watch. Danielson played a large role in her club team's success this past year and constantly shows why they only need one setter. Grace is one of those setters who will lay everything on the line to help her team succeed. She plays with a high level of maturity and composure, helping her to lead her team through stressful situations. This setter is a prime example of a playmaker, always making calculated decisions with precise ball placement. Aside from her stellar athleticism and knowledge of the game, Danielson is also an amazing teammate and knows how to pick her team up when they're down. This is a player who is going to give it her all wherever she goes, no matter her role on the team, and any program would be lucky to have this kid.     I was able to watch Scarlett a few times this club season, and the one thing that was always so impressive to me was how clean and precise her ball placement was. No matter where her pass was, she never gave away where she was going, pulling off risky sets that you don't see many setters trying. She shows a high IQ in her gameplay and truly knows how to control the pace of the game. Defensively, Ferin is a tough block to get around and makes herself known at the net.     Belle is another setter who was a major asset to her high school team in the 2025 season. Seaman led her team in kills, averaging 3.2 per set, along with averaging 2.3 assists and 2.2 digs per set. Additionally, the setter also has a very successful club season so far. Seaman led her team to a first-place finish at the Iowa Regional Championship, helping them to secure a National bid. She is a prime example of hard work and dedication, and how it all pays off. Aside from her incredible talent, Belle consistently demonstrates a team-first mentality and strong leadership abilities.     Chandler is the epitome of pure athleticism, and she shows it on the court. Although she might not be the tallest, she plays a big game. Clara has the power and muscle to send the ball to whoever she wants, no matter where she is on the court. She also has insane speed and a powerful arm swing, making her lethal on the pin and behind the service line. Although she uses her strong knowledge to make the best plays, she doesn't shy away from taking risks as a setter and always finds a way to make her hitters look amazing. She is definitely a setter you won't want to overlook this upcoming season.     Mya is a player who has continued to grow silently, and I feel is someone who is overlooked too often. Although she might not be the loudest, she makes her presence known. Johnson has been a starter for Moline High School since her freshman year and has flourished throughout the years. Although her main role has been setting, her talents go far beyond her position. Mya can be a major asset no matter where you put her. As a setter, she does a phenomenal job running her offense, but if needed, Mya can use her heavy arm to put a ball away. Defensively, she knows how to put up a strong block and has an unmatched speed that plays a key role in her back row abilities. If Johnson isn't already on your radar, she needs to be.
