June came in like a lion and did not go out like a lamb. The month that brought us the first direct communication between the 2028 Class and college coaches resulted in a large swath of the group committing programs on the next level. While the frequency has slowed from the initial burst, student-athletes in the recruiting cycle continue to announce their future home. We've done our best to keep up.

Although a lot of talented kids are off the board, really good players remain available to colleges. Here's a closer look at some of them:

I'm not sure what position Cahoy will play in college, but she's a college player. Having scouted the New Hampton junior with Six Pack the past few years, it's clear that the overall volleyball skills give her a path to playing time on the next level. I last saw her in person at the Mizuno Midwest Challenge during May in Des Moines. Cahoy was going a nice job working through six rotations, holding up well in covering a lot of ground in the back row and generating powerful swings in putting the ball from the pin. With room to grow her game, Cahoy offers colleges a pliable prospect ready to be molded into a productive part of the roster.

Small stands tall in the middle of the net for a pair of successful programs. She helped Iowa City West reach the state tournament last fall for the first time since 2016. The tall, long-armed Small has helped her Iowa United teams qualify for the USAV Nationals in the Open Division the last two club seasons. I've watched Small grow up in the game for the past four years. She's come so far as a player and worked hard on her development. Small can take over matches when getting in a groove and still has room to become even better with more reps. There's a lot of upside here for a college willing to invest in the future. The payoff potential is huge.

It's been fun watching Molden's ascent in the game during the last few years. You could see it coming together last club season, which led to a sophomore campaign at Johnston last fall that saw her produce 150 kills and 39.0 blocks as a full-time starter. Her 91 digs tell the story of a middle hitter with desirable agility. Having watched Molden several times this club year, her mobility and ability to get to her spots contributes greatly to her success. Flowing with the action, she gives the setter a clear option on the attack. Molden slides smoothly into excellent position on the block. Her reading of the opposing attack and defense continues improving. It's a ceiling worthy of investment for colleges.

Steege is a steady contributor for prep and club programs that are among the steadiest in the state. Consistency is the name of the game when I've watched her operate for Six Pack during the last few club campaigns. Steege is ready and reliable whenever a play on the ball can be made. She tracks the ball well in serve-receive and flows smoothly with the action when lining up against the attack. Steege started for a Sumner-Fredericksburg team that came within a win of the state tournament last season. Her coverage of the court resulted in an impressive 542 digs. The Cougars could take the next step to state this year, an achievement that will help Steege to continue raising her recruiting stock.

Waukee Northwest won its second state championship in three years last season. The setter on those teams is off to Drake, opening up the spot for a Wolves' outfit favored to repeat in 2026. Nelson possesses the ability to step into the lineup and keep the trains running on time. She's developed her game, most notable with consistency and in reading the opponent, when I've watched her the last two club seasons with PowerPlex. Nelson stands out for her ability to put the ball on the money in sharing a strong connection with her attackers. They can rely on her, and there's a mutual trust. Nelson is sound in serve-receive and flows well with the match action. She's improving in attacking and blocking. A breakout year might very well be loading here.
