It's been wonderful watching this group grow. It boasts high-end talent at the top and really good players throughout. Thinking about its future in the game and beyond is exciting.

Fortunately, these student-athletes have another prep season to shine. If you're a volleyball fan, seek out these kids if they're playing in your area. Schools travel around the state on Saturdays (and sometimes during the week) for competitive tournaments. They're fast-paced and fun with intriguing match-ups featuring super players.

Let's take closer look at members of the class. First up are kids that climbed since our last ranking. We like to call them stock risers.

Janulewicz has skyrocketed up the rankings during the last year. The Waukee Northwest senior rose from 39 to 14 in the last update. Now, she's up to No. 7 in Iowa's '29 class. Part of the rise can be attributed to her amazing versatility. Committed to Drake as a back-rower, Janulewicz shined as a first-time, six-rotation outside hitter for a Wolves' team that won the Class 5A state title last season. She ranked third on the squad in kills and second in digs. There were 34.0 blocks for good measure. Janulewicz wore the jersey for a PowerPlex team that qualified in the open division at USAV Nationals in Indianapolis this summer. Northwest is the heavy favorite to win back-to-back titles and the third championship in four years with Janulewicz playing a starring role again.

Off of an all-state season at Dowling Catholic last fall and then operating through six rotations for a PowerPlex team that reached this summer's USAV National Tournament in the Open Division, Klein moves from 12th to eighth in the latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update. The Santa Clara commitment really sharpened her skills as an all-around volleyball player during the last year. That definitely stood out when watching her excel against top competition this summer. The Maroons return most of their rotation from a year ago, and Klein would like nothing more than to lead the group to a state title in her final go-around. With her ability to terminate points at the pin and defend through six, it's possible.

Brubaker moved up eight spots to No. 9 in the latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update. The 6-foot-8 presence in the middle of the net helped Grundy Center reach the Class 2A state semifinals last season and then stood out for a CIA outfit that advanced to the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis. As mentioned, Brubaker is an intimidator on the court. Her height and long arms cover a lot of real estate and make the opposing attack question its approach. Where the Marquette commitment has shown the most growth in the last year has been in the way she ends points. Brubaker has quickened her operation and added explosiveness into a heavy swing. She will be a nightmare for teams on the Spartan schedule in 2026.

Ramler has steadily improved as a volleyball player and has taken a giant leap forward during the last year. The Western Dubuque standout rose from 62 to 20 in the last Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update. Now, the Illinois State commitment has jumped up to No. 12 in the new edition of the rundown. Ramler is a versatile performer at the net. I've watched her excel in the middle, on the right side and at the pin. Athleticism, power and explosion lead to her ability to stand out at multiple positions. Ramler is the leading returnee on a Bobcat team that brings back a lot of production around her. It won't be easy taking down larger schools in the MVC, but with Ramler leading the attack and protecting the net defensively, there's an opportunity for a special season.

The latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update shows Galloway moving up eight spots to No. 13. The rising of stock is due to a prep season that saw her earn second-team all-state honors from the coaching association. She then helped power Rockets to the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis. The success led to a commitment to Milwaukee. An all-state level basketball player on the strength of her defense, Galloway also is a problem to opposing attacks on the volleyball court. She bounces off of the court quickly, throws up long arms and displays excellent timing in reading the play. Galloway continues improving her attack, adding power and precision in her swing. The slide can be a deadly source of kills. Galloway has sharpened her overall skills and is capable of running six rotations for City High this year.
