S.A Up Next Setters

Prep Dig had the privilege of hosting another great showcase in San Antonio this weekend that brought in a lot of fun talent to see. Big plays, big energy, and some standout players made for 2 hours of beneficial volleyball. While there was a lot to see and highlight, we have to start the shout outs somewhere. So, setters of 2031, you're up first! Here's who you need to see from the Up Next showcase in San Antonio.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Setters </h2>    A solid setter/Rs, Demi Sikes, came in and went to work at the Up Next Showcase. At the net she runs clean and consistent, tempo. She does not hesitate to play defense and maintains efficient transition footwork all over the court. The confidence behind her play is evident in live play, as she pushes the momentum and encourages her teammates to match pace. As a setter, Demi has clearly been trained for the next level of her game, ready to take on the fast game and connect with new hitters at any moment. As she continues to develop, she is definitely something to see.     Emerson Keeney, a 2031 setter from Austin, with a fierce game. Standing at 5'3, she faces a little adversity but that did not stop her from making a statement this past weekend. Running a clean and quick tempo from the start of position work, Emerson made her presence known. With quick, light footwork and impressive defensive reads, she also showcased her ability to play defense first, a highlight quality coaches look for in their setters. Catch her this club season with Austin Skyline 14 Black, running the court.     Aria Polanco, a speedy setter/ds from San Antonio. She does a great job getting her feet around the ball before putting her hands up. Her set is smooth and consistent across the net, easy for hitters to connect with. As she develops in her role on the court, she brings high energy and intentional focus to what is being taught on the court. Her ability to make quick adjustments to the play and deliver a clean, hittable ball to keep the play progressing.     Lourdes Garcia, a setter/ right side for Alamo Volleyball with the size and tempo to run the net. She doe well taking the time to read the court and distribute the ball across the net for hitter success. She runs a quick and clean tempo that keeps the game running smoothly. Her footwork and transition are clear signs of intentional training. Lourdes has the ability to lead the court vocally and by example, pushing and encouraging teammates to run at the tempo she sets and maintain momentum. As she continues to develop her game, Lourdes has what it takes to play at the next level.     Airalyn Torres, a 2031 setter for Austin Performance with the ability to make quick adjustments to any hitter on the court with her. She moves well on the floor and takes the extra step to get completely around the ball before delivering a set. Another standout aspect of her play is the discipline behind setting her hands in front of her hips before taking the ball out of the air. Airalyn does the tidious jobs of a setter to emphasize her fundamentals and intentional training. Standing at 5'2, her attention to detail is what will continue to set her apart from the crowd.     London Gantz, a 2031 setter for Alamo Volleyball, elevates her game with efficient fundamental play. Nothing crazy or tricky, just true intent behind doing the little things right. She pushes the ball across the net with a clean set, the ball floats from good framing hands, and her feet are consistently squared to her target. With so much attention to detail, London has began a good development of a consistent jump set, giving her an extra edge to her game and the ability to connect with hitters running a quicker tempo at the net.
