One scan through the <a href="https://prepdig.com/iowa/rankings/2028-watch-list-2/">UPDATED RANKINGS</a> reveals a whole lot of talent and depth. It's also a group that has two years of high school ball to get better, which is exciting.   One of the best parts about tracking a recruiting cycle is watching prospects emerge and rise throughout the process. Every new rankings release features student-athletes moving up from the previous iteration. We like to call them Rankings Risers, and here are notable folks fitting that description in this update:    I remember scouting Isaacson throughout the 2025 Northern Lights Qualifier and thinking the upside was tremendous. The long-limbed attacker has begun realizing that potential in the last year. She worked hard on her all-around game and became more consistent in all aspects. The main attraction is a huge swing that can end the action in an instant. Isaacson rises well above the net, creates torque and hammers down on the defense. She took her game to another level in helping PowerPlex qualify for the USAV Nationals this year and will be one of the main contributors for an Ankeny team with its eyes on a Class 5A title. Isaacson rose up two spots to No. 10 in the latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2028 rankings. The Drake commitment has as much upside as any prospect in the cycle.     It's not easy to lift yourself up multiple spots in the Top 20 once a class's rankings have been established. However, Crane managed to do just that in the latest Prep Dig Iowa 2028 update. The Dowling Catholic junior jumped up five places to No. 11 overall. She dazzled the times I watched her during this club campaign, when she was one of the leading forces behind United's drive to the USAV Nationals this summer in Indianapolis. Crane is a powerful, two-way right-side hitter that's made great strides in the consistency of her attack. She's reading the block better and finding holes in the defense. With the heaviness of her swing, opponents are left helpless when she's on. Her block is getting better. Fresno State saw the upside and locked up her commitment.     Stanfel is another prospect that was able to make a difficult move up within the Top 20 of the Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2028 rankings. The Dowling Catholic opposite pin checked in at No. 16, two places higher than she found herself in the last iteration of the ratings. Stanfel took a jump up in her play last club season and has continued on a great development trajectory since then. She really took a step forward from her solid play last season, when the Maroons made it back to the state tournament, to playing a leading role in helping PowerPlex reach the USAV Nationals this summer. A lot of the improvement has come in the form of consistency and adding power. Stanfel will terminate sets from multiple angles to all locations in the court. She's improved at reading the opposing block and in throwing up an effective block.     I admit it. I've been a Rude stan since watching her compete as a Valley freshman. Her play for the Tigers and on one of the funnest club teams to watch on the circuit has done nothing but increase that admiration. Rude is a gamer, in sports vernacular. She doesn't mind getting dirty, metaphorically speaking, and hustles at a high rate. Rude is more than a high-motor player, however. The Drake commitment is technically sound and skilled in the back row. There's athleticism, lateral quickness and sharp reflexes. Serve-receive is sound and positioning against the attack is precise. Rude is an excellent vocal leader and brings great energy to the court. All of it plays into her rising 21 spots to No. 20 in the recent Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2028 rankings update.     Few players in the state experienced a rise on the recruiting trail as great as Evans did during the last year. The Mid-Prairie standout led the Golden Hawks back to the state tournament last year and locked in this club campaign in starring for a United outfit that reached the USAV Nationals during summer. Evans is a quick-twitch athlete with sharp reflexes. She moves very well laterally and in a straight line. Flowing smoothly with the match's action, Evans puts herself in position to defend consistently against the attack. Her top traits along with keen reads aid her in holding up well in serve-receive. Evans is the type of player that has natural ability that can't be taught, which gives her a lot of upside that's reachable through more reps.
