I was first exposed to Crane’s volleyball talents when she competed at a Prep Dig showcase in Clive last spring. I watched her again with Dowling Catholic throughout the 2025 prep season. It was good to see her again in-person at the 2026 Nike President’s Day Classic in St. Louis. To say she was dominant would an understatement. Crane’s heavy hammer from the opposite pin pounded opponents all weekend during United 16-1 Elite Timmerman’s run to the open division gold bracket championship match. Crane has just steadily improved from that first scouting opportunity at the Horizon’s Center. She’s an explosive athlete with strength and agility. With ever-improving volleyball skills and technique, it all appears to be coming together for Crane on her journey to reaching a considerable ceiling.

Crane jumped out at those of us attending the Prep Dig Showcase in Clive this summer with her loud game and impressive skills for such a young player. You would not know she’s a 10th-grader when watching her operate on the court. Crane brings power to the net in the form of a two-way performer. Her effectiveness at lining up in the middle or at the opposite pin give her a versatility that’s attractive to college coaches. Crane also could hit outside with her set of skills, which include a strong vertical leap, ability to hang in the air and swing that fires through the hitting zone, generating velocity. Crane still has a way to go before reaching her considerable potential, which easily makes her one of the top 2028s in Iowa.

I first saw Crane in action during a Prep Dig showcase this summer in Central Iowa. After that viewing, it makes a lot of sense that she’s finding success as a sophomore on the varsity level. Crane had contributed 50 kills and 23.0 blocks through her team’s first 18 matches. Most impressive was her efficiency. She was hitting .226. Crane has a loud game. She explodes off the court, has an impressive vertical leap and generates a ton of power in her swing. Already with a knack for executing the block, room remains before she reaches her potential in that area and others. Crane has raised here stock a lot this year with a chance for it to go much higher.

Dowling Catholic’s collection of elite athletes keeps expanding. Crane, like many of the players on this feature, joined the Prep Dig Circuit last month and was an all-around force in our showcase environment. It’s no wonder that Crane has become a go-to attacker for RVA Roots 15U Naples, a team starting its AAU journey in 15 Open’s Pool D. Crane hits a heavy ball on the right side and can adapt to any tempo from her setter. We’re also eager to see how Crane’s formidable block matches up against AAU’s vast collection of left-side terminators.

We saw a little team cohesion at Friday’s event with so many Dowling Catholic entries in the gym. Crane proved she could be a go-to asset on the right side, and she also brings some experience as a middle blocker. Her physicality and lateral quickness make her an ideal fit for either role, allowing Crane to move around the dial during Midwest Live’s scrimmages. Roots Volleyball Club is making moves in the Iowa Region lately, and the Class of 2028 is already showing a lot of promise.
