Stanfel is another prospect that was able to make a difficult move up within the Top 20 of the Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2028 rankings. The Dowling Catholic opposite pin checked in at No. 16, two places higher than she found herself in the last iteration of the ratings. Stanfel took a jump up in her play last club season and has continued on a great development trajectory since then. She really took a step forward from her solid play last season, when the Maroons made it back to the state tournament, to playing a leading role in helping PowerPlex reach the USAV Nationals this summer. A lot of the improvement has come in the form of consistency and adding power. Stanfel will terminate sets from multiple angles to all locations in the court. She’s improved at reading the opposing block and in throwing up an effective block.

Stanfel broke out as a prospect during the 2025 club season. She followed up that performance with a productive sophomore campaign at Dowling Catholic last fall. The ability to end points with power and throw up an effective block against the state’s top competition solidified her place among the state’s best opposite pins. Stanfel has raised her stock even more with a dominant club year with PowerPlex. She’s steadily adding power to her game and refining her volleyball skills. Stanfel is a good athlete with sharp instincts and agility that could handle more responsibilities on the court.

Now, we’ll bring the PowerPlex 16s into the fray. We were due for some right-side representation in this feature, and Stanfel is the perfect torchbearer for this position group. Like many of 16U Nelson’s pins, Stanfel is willing to swing on either side of the setter and adapt to several different lineups. However, this explosive athlete had some of her most highlight-worthy swings on the right side during the Midwest National Tune-Up. Stanfel readily exploits seams in the block and can turn down the line, too. Her range is not limited to positional flip-flopping.

Stanfel emerged as a prospect for us during the last year’s club season and with her showcase performances. She flashed that high upside again when I scouted Dowling at the Westside Invite in Cedar Rapids and again at the state tournament. As well as she performs now, one of the more exciting aspects of Stanfel as a prospect is that it feels like there’s a ways to go before reaching a considerable ceiling. Stanfel is powerful with a heavy swing. Long arms and leaping ability also aid in defending at the net. She’s effective at both pins, giving her the versatility college coaches covet. Stanfel still appears to be climbing the ladder when we watch her early-season club highlights.
