Durango Fall Classic: Nevada Teams, Times and Sites

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every September, some of the best high school volleyball programs in the country make their way to Las Vegas for the Durango Fall Classic. What started in 1995 as an idea from longtime Nevada coach Bob Kelly for a local tournament at Durango High School has grown into one of the most respected high school volleyball events in the nation. The tournament has brought together powerhouse programs from California, Hawaii, Texas, Kentucky, Arizona and beyond, giving Nevada teams a rare opportunity to measure themselves against elite competition without leaving home.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2026 field continues that tradition, with 64 teams divided into 16 pools across Silverado, Coronado, Desert Oasis and Foothill High Schools. All of the action begins on Friday, September 18 and crowns a champion the following day on Saturday. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><mark class="has-inline-color has-primary-color">Thirteen Nevada programs are included this year: Bishop Manogue, Moapa Valley, Faith Lutheran, Durango, Sierra Vista, Foothill, Shadow Ridge, Arbor View, Bishop Gorman, Centennial, Coronado, Desert Oasis and Palo Verde.</mark></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Look Back at Nevada's Best Finish</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nevada programs have been part of the Durango Fall Classic almost from the beginning, but finishing near the top is extremely difficult considering the national level of competition. One of the strongest performances in tournament history came from the host school itself.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In <strong>2003, Durango finished fifth overall</strong>, behind Marymount, Wilson, Archbishop Mitty and St. Francis. That Durango squad finished ahead of national powers including Mater Dei, Mira Costa and Los Alamitos. Based on the tournament's archived final standings, that fifth-place finish stands out as the highest documented finish by a Nevada program.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That performance came during one of the strongest stretches in Durango volleyball history. The Trailblazers won back-to-back Nevada state championships in 2002 and 2003, and the tournament's history notes that those teams lost only one set to Nevada competition during that two-year run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nevada teams have also found success within the tournament's different championship divisions.
