Standout Pin Hitters to Watch at DFC: Part I

The pin hitter groups at the Durango Fall Classic will feature plenty of size, versatility and point-scoring ability, and Nevada has several players who fit that mold. This first group includes a mix of experienced seniors and rising underclassmen who are producing from the pins, the service line and in six rotations. Each brings something a little different, but all have the ability to make a noticeable impact throughout the weekend. Catch all of the action starting on Friday, September 18, 2026.    Nigro gives Faith another physical pin who can make an impact both offensively and at the net. She finished last season with 130 kills and 49 blocks, showing her ability to contribute in multiple areas. Her blocking production is especially valuable because it allows her to influence points even when she is not getting set.     Gidge has been a major offensive force for Sierra Vista with 144 kills, 4.1 kills per set and a .288 hitting efficiency. Her production stands out even more considering she is only a sophomore. She gives the Mountain Lions a go-to scoring option and will be one of the younger Nevada attackers worth following throughout the weekend.     Mendez leads Palo Verde's attack at 3.5 kills per set and has also added 15 aces. She is another young pin who can create points in more than one way. Her ability to score from the front row and put pressure on opponents from the service line gives Palo Verde a legitimate offensive threat.     Ghadban has already made an impact on varsity as a sophomore with 90 kills, 17 aces and 15 total blocks. She gives Gorman a young, physical pin who can affect the match in several phases. Her serving and blocking numbers show that she can create points even when she is not being featured heavily in the offense.     Benesh currently leads Durango in kills per set at 1.6. As a sophomore, she gives the Trailblazers a young attacker with room to continue growing into a larger offensive role.
