Texas HS: Ridge Point sweep Travis on the road

<p>District play continues to pick up pace in the high school volleyball season in Texas, and each week teams from all over the Lone Star State face what could be decisive matches as they attempt to qualify for the playoffs.</p>   <p>For another year, Prep Dig Texas will be your go-to website when it comes to following the high school volleyball season in the Lone Star State, as we'll be covering multiple matches every week and providing the best coverage, featuring weekly previews, photo galleries, match reports and tournament standouts.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/p/DdUaO4oDzVB/ </div></figure>   <p>On Friday, September 18, we were in Richmond, where the Fort Bend Travis Tigers hosted the Ridge Point Panthers in District 21. Travis have two wins and two losses in district and a 14-19 campaign.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Players of the Match</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Chandler had a key role in Ridge Point's strong performance with her consistent production in different areas of the game. The junior outside hitter was very reliable in serve-receive, covering a large portion of the court and showing solid ball control to keep her team in system. Chandler also stood out for her superior decision-making at the net, which helped her limit her errors and find solutions to every set - she hit some nice angles and tipped in great spots in out-of-system and transition plays. The pin hitter stepped up to seal the Panthers' victory by scoring the game-winning point with a back-row swing after the team made consecutive mistakes and saw Travis bring the difference to a single point.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/09/2J4A0080_ba9e5e.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1043194" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ridge Point dominated the net on both sides of the ball, and Davis' strong showing was a big factor in it. The senior and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='575961' first='Milan' last='Davis'] were both excellent in the middle and facilitated the team's success by playing with remarkable energy and efficiency. Davis was extremely prolific offensively, getting tremendous pressure into her swings and avoiding blockers and defenders with well-angled actions. She was also very active with her blocking, reading opponents well and quickly moving to the ball to shut them down.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/2101104695179882638?s=20 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Marquart brought a great deal of stability to Ridge Point with her reliable and productive game on the back row. The senior libero led the team's passing and stood out for her impressive accuracy, which kept the Panthers in system and opened up every possibility for her setters. Marquart showed good versatility on the back row, playing defense at both the middle and the left spots, and was very efficient, too, performing some remarkable digs. The libero did a good job from the service line as well and repeatedly got the opponents out of system.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/09/2J4A0074_2ba6fe.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1043191" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Johnson and sophomore Presley Rogers thrived in the setter role for Ridge Point and kept the team's offense firing on all cylinders. The junior understood early on that her middles were poised to have great nights and built her strategy around them, making it easy for all of her hitters to put the ball down. The left-handed Johnson also did well in out-of-system plays, showing good vision to get the ball to the pins. She got good touches when playing defense and had good moments with her serving.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/09/2J4A0013_c00daf.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1043167" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ansell was Travis' go-to scorer in the match and took her team as far as she could with her strong game at the net. The sophomore outside hitter was set in every possible position on the court and was fairly efficient at putting the ball down, using her long frame and solid vision to find ways to score. Ansell handled well most of the serves that went her way, showing good ball control and spatial awareness. Combining impressive quickness and superior technical skills, the sophomore libero was very consistent and productive for the Tigers. Winn was excellent when playing defense, demonstrating impressive agility to get to tips and controlling some hard-driven swings that went into her zone.
