Neenah is the place to be this weekend with the Neenah Invite hosting some of the state's top powers on Saturday from multiple classes. With three weekends left in the seasons and two weekends left before seedings come out there are some interesting storylines to watch that could cause some movement in sectionals. Here are a few potential matchups to watch for.

[player_tooltip player_id='545677' first='Brianna' last='Hagglund'] of Kimberly

Prelude To Neenah/Kimberly Conference Match

The FVA is always a high powered volleyball conference where the champion puts themselves in position to make a state tournament run. Right now Neenah and Kimberly are both sitting at 6-0 in the conference and could potentially face each other this weekend prior to their October 8 dual match. There are plenty of similarities between these two programs. Kimberly has two high powered and efficient outside hitters in [player_tooltip player_id='545677' first='Brianna' last='Hagglund'] and [player_tooltip player_id='805698' first='Harper' last='Van Lannen'] while Neenah will have [player_tooltip player_id='510416' first='Lillian' last='Romjue'] and [player_tooltip player_id='781349' first='Brielle' last='Brown']. In the middle, there will be quite a battle with Neenah's middles in [player_tooltip player_id='827590' first='Paige' last='Hoelzel'] (Southwest Minnesota State) and [player_tooltip player_id='499499' first='Cara' last='Bosovic'] while Kimberly has [player_tooltip player_id='806875' first='Natalie' last='Weyenberg'] and [player_tooltip player_id='809661' first='Haylie' last='Dulas'] (Marquette basketball). These players are very familiar with each other between the club and high school courts and will be in the hunt for gold matches come Saturday afternoon.

Milwaukee Powers Head North

Oconomowoc is second ranked in D1 where they are the only team from Wisconsin to defeat DSHA this season. They have faced them four times this season and clipped them at the Joust to start the year and have lost to them in three sets twice. Their top two scorers are [player_tooltip player_id='435890' first='Greta' last='Schreiber'] (St. Thomas) and [player_tooltip player_id='745070' first='Avery' last='Bork'] who provides quite a spark as a sophomore. Brookfield East will also be making the trip up where they have some big wins this season. They defeated Kimberly to open the season, but have also picked up wins over Wisconsin Lutheran, Waunakee, and Manitowoc Lincoln. With their firepower and the libero play of [player_tooltip player_id='435878' first='Amorina' last='Compean-Costello'] they have a chance to knock anybody off.

Statement Weekend For SPASH

West De Pere right now would be the top seed in their section, however SPASH has a chance to knock up some teams and move up this weekend that could put them in a favorable spot come seeding time. They will start will Neenah and Brookfield East on Saturday, but if they can knock off one of those teams that would give them a major statement win. [player_tooltip player_id='522106' first='Nora' last='Kruger'] continues to lead the Panthers where the junior is closing in on 1000 kills in her career. [player_tooltip player_id='500399' first='Lenna' last='Mayer'] is averaging over five digs per set and has surpassed 2,000 in her career.

Battle With D2 Teams

Mosinee will head into this weekend as the top ranked team in D2. They are 19-2 with their only losses coming to Kimberly and Bay Port back on September 5. [player_tooltip player_id='545529' first='Pacyn' last='Stoffel'] leads the way averaging nearly four kills per set. She is a six rotation athletic and physical outside who can handle a high volume of serve receive while also being smooth in her pass to attack movement. In their pool is Fox Valley Lutheran who is currently 20-2. They are led by outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='807830' first='Alaina' last='Patchett'] who is averaging nearly 3.5 kills per set. Luxemburg-Casco is always one of the top threats in D2 and will be in the house this weekend. [player_tooltip player_id='459898' first='Aubrey' last='Frey'] could surpass 2,000 kills this weekend - yes, 2,000 which is quite a feat at the high school level.

Quick Hitters

Appleton East took their home invite last weekend with a championship win over SPASH. When you have freshman [player_tooltip player_id='875972' first='Kinley' last='Reed'] in the lineup, there is always a chance for her to catch fire and score plenty of points.

Manitowoc Lutheran will be in the house and are the two time defending state champions coming from D3. Concordia St. Paul commit [player_tooltip player_id='510424' first='Ava' last='Stuebs'] brings plenty of intensity and firepower for the Lancers as she has surpassed 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.

Oshkosh West will be a sneaky team to keep tabs on. Outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='522525' first='Emma' last='Liebergen'] is a six rotation threat where she is so smooth being able to serve receive and attack in any rotation.
