All Showcase Team: Wisconsin Freshman and UpNext

The All Freshman Showcase team is a list of athletes who consistently showed a high level of school from their session at the Prep Dig Wisconsin Freshman and Up Next Showcase.  There are athletes from across the state who are ready to make a name for themselves, competing against some of the best in their class.  These notes and feedback were compiled by the Prep Dig Scouts as well as the court coaches in attendance.  Stay tuned for more articles all throughout the week recapping the event.     The first thing I noticed in [player_tooltip player_id='879468' first='Avery' last='Gehring'] was her communication. She was constantly talking, bringing energy to the court whether she's serving, serve receiving, or passing. She is always able to say something and contribute in a positive way. Her passing skills match her energy where she knows how to create space between her platform and her body. She also knows how to take pace off a hard driven ball. Very exciting day for Gehring who will be a freshman at Burlington High School and plays club at [program_tooltip program_id='431479' first='Wisconsin' last='Juniors'].     [player_tooltip player_id='987138' first='Addie' last='Hobler'] caught the eye of the court coaches as well as the scouts at the Prep Dig Wisconsin Freshman Showcase. Her length and athleticism really standout from the setter position where she knows how to dish as well as command a court. She is solid out of the backrow as a setter, has a major presence as a blocker, and knows how to connect with her attackers - even in a showcase setting where everyone is trying to find chemistry together. She is another one at the showcase who was part of the [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 14 Navy National Division championship squad. She's also had a big summer playing for the Kimberly Varsity team and Badger Region High Performance.     I was so impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='1009695' first='Hanlee' last='Kellerman'], and other court coaches were too. As a middle blocker, Kellerman was able to hit the ball square every time. She had a large window when it comes to making hand contact. She knew how to find the deep corners and was able to put plenty of pace on the ball as well. As a blocker she was able to get her hands high and pressed she took control of the net. Kellerman is only a 2031, she still has another year before she enters high school. She will be one to watch in her 14s year for I AM VBC 14 Red.     [player_tooltip player_id='987139' first='Quinn' last='Knutson'] showed her versatility being able to set and swing. She's a really physical attacker who is able to score points from the outside or right side. She was a key piece to the [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 14 Navy National Division Championship in Indy earlier this summer. She will be one of the more dynamic players in her class. Her skill set will be fun to watch develop this high school season where she will be a freshman at Kimberly.     Another gritty defensive specialist was [player_tooltip player_id='737756' first='Morgan' last='McNally'] who will be a freshman at Brookfield East and club at Wisconsin Elite. I always enjoy the defensive specialist drills because you get to see a lot in a short amount of time. She was very fundamentally sound in serve receive with great platform control, and when it came to the defense and scramble she really thrived. She has great touch on the ball where she knows when to soften her platform and when to adjust her angles to get her side of the net in system.     [player_tooltip player_id='879679' first='Elianna' last='Miles'] stood out right away. The six rotation outside hitter showed plenty of all around skill and athleticism. She was able to take big rips on the outside while also showing some finesse, a very creative scoring style. She was a member of the [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] 14 Gold team this past year who earned a 14 Open bid and will be heading to a state power in DSHA for her freshman season. Between her high school and club volleyball, she will be accustomed to high level training and competition.     Another standout all around player was [player_tooltip player_id='859428' first='Camryn' last='Carr']. Carr has length and athleticism like many of these athletes, but seeing her in the setter position you could see how smooth and fluid her skillset is. She just glides on the court, she gets her feet to the ball which allows her to set a clean ball to her attackers. She is also someone who can score points with her swing where she can score as an attacker as well. She was part of [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] 14 Black this past season, played for the Badger Region All Star team, and will be a freshman at DSHA.     There was a fun grit to [player_tooltip player_id='878231' first='Macie' last='Anderson']'s game. She will be a freshman at DeForest and has played her club volleyball for Madtown out of the Madison area. You can tell she is well trained with how she moves and maneuvers her platform. She knows how to put up a clean, high second ball out of system. This is always exciting when we see athletes take over the libero position which Anderson definitely showed today.     Another Madtown and DeForest athlete who was impressive was [player_tooltip player_id='987154' first='Georgia' last='Hussin']. She is a six rotation outside hitter who really showed her leaping ability as well as being able to hit it square with solid hand contact. She was able to score points in and out of system. DeForest is building a lot of momentum in the past year on the club and high school courts, will be fun to see them over these next couple of seasons.     Another [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] and DSHA athlete to know from the Freshman Showcase is [player_tooltip player_id='853346' first='Adley' last='Kowalewski']. I was impressed with her size and physicality at the net. She is a true pin. She has mostly played on the right side, but she showed her ability to score on the outside as well. In a showcase setting these athletes are usually able to show multiple skills at different spots on the court and Kowalewski was a prime example of that with her ability to attack and block on both pins.     Another libero/defensive specialist who really showcased her athleticism. She has a really high motor where she was able to hustle to get a touch in a pursuit drill, but also showed composure in serve receive. I noticed her footwork in serve receive where she was quick to take a drop step and open up on a deep ball. In the all around play I also noticed that she had a nice swing where she is a true dynamic player who can swing and pass. She was part of a few kids from Fox Valley Lutheran who will be entering high school, they will continue to reload.
