The Future is Here – SA Up Next Top Performers Vol 5

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas Showcases are back!  We had a big event that was held at the Alamo City All Stars Center on August 15^th.  The Up Next showcase for the middle school classes was amazing! These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. That kind of competitive consistency is the hardest thing to sustain across a full day of competition at any age and she did it without being prompted. Her serve receive was technically sound and she tracked the ball to her platform with fantastic vision rather than reaching for it at the last moment. On attack she generated angles with her timing rather than her size and found solutions when the set was not exactly where she wanted it. Court coaches watching the outside hitter group throughout the day kept coming back to the totality of what she brought to the floor rather than any single standout moment. Her arm swing mechanics were technically sound throughout the Up Next San Antonio Showcase and the velocity she generated came from proper downswing speed. She made adjustments within her approach when the set moved away from her and found productive contact on balls that gave other hitters in the group trouble. The way she competed when things did not go her way was just as telling as the production when they did. She never let a tough moment linger and that reset ability is one of the more underrated qualities in a young outside hitter. She redirected the ball over and around the block with an accuracy that created solutions. She played every point with the same intensity regardless of the score and brought her teammates into the competition with a genuine enthusiasm that lifted the energy of the group around her. The sportsmanship she carried throughout the day matched the skill level she brought to the floor.
