It's hard to believe we're three weeks into the ride, but here were are. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While teams will decide it on the court, predicting who they will be is a fun exercise, for me, and, hopefully, you. We love rankings!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I'll be lining up teams in the state's second largest class, 4A, each Monday (or Tuesday) throughout the season. Here's how I see it heading into Week 4:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1. Marion</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Wolves moved up one spot to No. 1 this week in what has been a wild ride in Class 4A so far. They have the best wins among the group, including topping 5A ranked teams Iowa City West and Valley. There's also close 2-1 loss to Pleasant Valley on the ledger. [player_tooltip player_id='759977' first='Abbey' last='Kirk']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/abbey-kirk/"></a> <a href="https://prepdig.com/player/abbey-kirk/"></a> leads the charge with 96 kills (.284) in 30 sets and ranks second in digs (92). [player_tooltip player_id='758819' first='Nayomi' last='Vasser']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/nayomi-vasser/"></a> , [player_tooltip player_id='1017878' first='Kaylene' last='Cordes']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/kaylene-cordes/"></a> <a href="https://prepdig.com/player/kaylene-cordes/"></a>, Hayden Dietz and Alysin Kinney each has between 35 and 47 kills, and [player_tooltip player_id='693817' first='Jaleaya' last='Oliver']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/nicole-carsner/"></a> has come up with a team-best 128 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2. Assumption</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Knights move up two spots to No. 2 with a strong performance against a tough schedule. Among the Knights 11 victories are Ankeny Centennial, North Scott (twice), Pleasant Valley, Clear Creek Amana, Prairie and Regina. They've competed closely against other top 5A teams and have no bad losses. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='694203' first='Belle' last='Cotton']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/belle-cotton/"></a> has hammered out 129 kills (.303) and added 81 digs in 37 sets. Freshmen [player_tooltip player_id='877691' first='Piper' last='Peterson']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/piper-peterson/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='918791' first='Zoe' last='Cinadr']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/zoe-cinadr-4/"></a> have combined for 138 kills, while [player_tooltip player_id='1037650' first='Taylor' last='Camarena']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/taylor-camarena/"></a> has 43 with 31.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='742600' first='Piper' last='Hodge']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/piper-hodge/"></a> has piled up 182 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>3. Sioux Center</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Warriors check in third this week despite having four losses on the resume, including a Siouxland setback against a really good MOC-Floyd Valley squad last week. Hinton is Sioux Center's only other defeat against an Iowa team. The other two were at the hands of Sioux Falls (SD) Christian. Sioux Center challenges itself against a tough schedule, which is why it climbed all the way to the Class 4A state title match last year. [player_tooltip player_id='816843' first='Maryn' last='Franken']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/maryn-franken/"></a> has collected 94 kills (.293) in 23 sets to go with 66 digs and 15.0 blocks so far this year. [player_tooltip player_id='841522' first='Adison' last='Brantsen']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/adison-brantsen/"></a> added 53 kills and picked up a team-best 72 digs. Clear Creek Amana</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Clippers jump up a spot to No. 4 this week on the strength of wins against Iowa City West and Bettendorf along with 2-1 losses to Liberty and Assumption. Norwalk</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Norwalk has bounced back from three losses in Week 1 and checks in fifth this week. The Warriors picked up a 3-0, Little Hawkeye win against Pella last week. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='560368' first='Elle' last='Hatlevig']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/gabrielle-hatlevig/"></a> , a Michigan State commitment, has torn up the competition to the tune of 191 kills (.443) in 33 sets. Senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='493974' first='Hadley' last='Michael']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/hadley-michael-3/"></a> also has been excellent with team-highs in assists (311) and blocks (26.0), while ranking second in digs (69).
