Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior outside hitter came up big in key moments for the Spartans, making plays in critical times and paving the way for their victory. Lott wasn’t as effective as the other hitters on the team, registering eight kills in 24 swings, but she scored back-to-back points at the end of set two in a moment in which Ridge Point was close to winning it, and that could have changed the rest of the match. She showed good variation in her offense, picking the right shots to beat the block and limiting her errors.

The senior outside hitter had a slow start to the match, but lit up in the most important moment and played a major role in set five. Lott was on fire at the end of the match and displayed a very complete arsenal to score points at the pin, going from hard-driven swings to well-placed tips with tremendous intelligence. She left the court with 13 kills and also added a couple of blocks. Lott’s passing was also excellent as she handled all 12 serves that went her way with no errors.

Lott and her Seven Lakes team will play at district rivals Cinco Ranch HS, where they will face Magnolia, Cy Park and Memorial. A middle-turned-into-outside hitter, she’s one of the team’s most productive players at the net, combining excellent size and power and great decision-making. Lott is also an elite blocker, who’s not only capable of putting up a big block in front of opposing hitters, but also of reading them well and reacting in the last second. She did a great job of improving her ball control over the last couple of years and is now very comfortable in serve-receive.

Lott and her Katy United 16 Adidas team will compete in the 16 Bid division this weekend in Houston. Expect her to be very active offensively for them, hitting balls on the left with great power. Originally a middle, Lott has transitioned to the pin during the last high school season and looks more adapted to the new position every time she gets on the court. Her offense is more consistent now and her ball control has also improved to the level that she can contribute to a good extent in serve-receive. She’s also a very productive blocker, who reads opponents well and plays aggressively above the net.

I’ve watched Lott a couple of times during the last high school season, when she had a prominently offensive role with Seven Lakes, but the Top 250 Expo was a great opportunity to take a look at every aspect of her game. It was easy to see that her ball control is significantly better now and that she’s ready to contribute with her passing. Her offense also continues to develop as she’s been able to put more power into her swings and has improved her decision-making.
