Okwura played for the HJV 16 Elite team that had little competition during the day, ranking first after winning all three of their matches with no sets dropped. Arguably the most physical player in the division, Okwura gave them a huge presence at the net, making a big impact in their game. Making great use of her high contact point and hitting different sets in the middle, she was nearly unstoppable offensively, being one of the team’s main scoring options. Okwura also offered significant defensive contributions, challenging opposing hitters with her big block and winning 50-50 balls up at the net.

Nlonna is a middle blocker with a strong presence in the middle of the court. I like her size and how she moves along the net, particularly in closing blocks. She shows good instincts defensively and continues to improve her offensive timing. As her connection with setters grows and her transition speed improves, she has the potential to be a dominant middle at higher levels.

Despite Seven Lakes not being able to perform at their usual level, Okwura still managed to produce well against Dawson. The sophomore middle was very effective with her blocking, moving well at the net and playing aggressively to deliver a team-high five stops. She also contributed six kills, getting the ball more often in the last two sets, when the team’s passing was more stable.

The sophomore was a defensive anchor for the Spartans, making a massive impact at the net with incredible length and blocking ability. Okwura was brilliant at reading the game and reacting to it, getting an impressive eight stops, between registering stuff blocks and sending overpasses straight down. Some of those spots came in critical moments of the match, putting Ridge Point’s hitters under pressure. Okwura also had an excellent offensive performance, registering eight kills out of her 13 swings.

Please welcome Miss Okwura officially to the State Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 49th best overall prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Seven Lakes High School and also for the Houston Juniors volleyball club. This young lady burst onto the scene last year and has been a force in the middle on both the offensive and defensive end. Standing at six foot three inches tall, she has a towering presence and it can be intimidating to opponents. You would expect someone so tall to be slow laterally, but she is quick and powerful. Everyone I have talked to about her has mentioned that she has the potential to be one heck of a recruit. We are going to keep our eyes on her and we think she is poised for a breakout year. Please help us congratulate her on being named one of the best players in the state of Texas.

Okwura’s game grew a lot during the match, and she was a big factor in the Spartans’ victory. Matched up with a much shorter Jordan middle, she took full advantage of her height and length to dominate the net and make an impact on both sides of the ball. The sophomore produced excellent numbers, tallying eight kills and an impressive 11 blocks, and made a big defensive impact at the net, creating problems for opposing hitters.

Okwura helped her Seven Lakes team have one of the best campaigns in the event, getting seven wins and just one loss. Middle was a position of streght for the Spartans, who saw both her and junior Willtrace Ngoh earn all-tournament selections. Always the tallest player on the court, Okwura used her physical tools extremely well to dominate the net on both sides of the game. The middle took full advantage of her contact point to overcome opposing blockers and put the ball down and also made an impact on the defensive side of the game by moving smoothly at the net and quickly getting off the floor to get stops and touches with her blocking.

The 6’3” middle from Katy, TX, with a 10’5” approach touch, stands out as a dominant force at the net. Her athleticism and power make her a major threat offensively, as she delivers sharp, high-velocity swings that are difficult to defend. Defensively, her long arms and timing allow her to close blocks pin to pin and shut down attackers across the front row. Along with her physical tools, she brings a strong work ethic and presence that elevates her team. If you haven’t seen Nlonna in action, make sure to catch her this high school season at Seven Lakes.
