One of many 5’10”ish middles here in central Indiana, Hallie is capable of being that hybrid attacker that seems to be seeing more and more playing time as our game evolves. Some good traits Miss Rieck carries include making smart shots and staying within herself while trying not to do too much. A little higher-end training in the weight room will improve her leg lift and transitional speed, but that’s fixable, especially considering the level of play that she already brings. (Yes, that’s a Perry Meridian jersey you see in her profile pic, but she’s listed as attending Southport in her Circle City roster listing.)

Hallie’s vision of the block in front of her and the volleyball smarts to know what to do in each and every situation will carry her far in her recruiting journey. When in-system, Miss Rieck hits a heavy ball to all angles as a solid M2. Her shot selection makes defending her a nightmare, however, keeping defenses guessing when she receives the ball. I’d like to see more jumping ability and athleticism to get her out of certain situations that are out-of-system, but for now her success rides that on-court vision that so few in this class have.

Hallie stood out to me as one of the hardest workers in not just the freshman class of middle blockers, but out of all of them. I never saw her slow down or take a rep off; she was always working on closing the block, transitioning off the net and being an option for the setter. As a middle, this hard work will be her bread and butter and a great foundation to build off of. Rieck puts up a good solid block with hands pressed over on both middle and right-side attacks. As she works on lateral movement/speed, especially to the left side hitter, she should close more blocks, and her blocking is going to improve tremendously. Same rings true for her transition off the net, as her speed/agility improves, so will her attack speed. I am definitely excited to watch her grow in this area over club season.
