One of the hardest National Qualifiers of the year is in full swing in Dallas, TX this weekend. Being held at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in downtown Dallas, this qualifier brings the best teams from all over the nation under one roof toward the end of the season. I was able to check out some matches in person today and here are a few individual performances that stood out to me.

[player_tooltip player_id='534309' first='Lucy' last='Holmes'] might be the strongest player I have seen in a while. I would really like to put a radar gun on the ball when she makes contact with it. As I stopped by Dallas Skyline 16 Royal's court today, her setter moved the ball around well against the flow of the pass to give her a one on one match up and it was completely unfair. There is no one that is going to stop this young lady from either scoring or getting a team out of system. The ball basically disappears once her hand makes contact. She is very fun to watch and her team sets her up well for success.

[player_tooltip player_id='580689' first='Kyra' last='Bolden'] is a star in the making. While we do not have her ranked as of yet, everything about her game is screaming at us to take notice. I stopped by her court and was truly amazed at the athleticism that she brings to the left side position. What was even more impressive is that Peak uses her in a ton of different routes and lineup formations during serve receive. Although it is not the normal positioning that most teams use, Kyra's game is not affected by it. I watched her run high tempo left side, then second tempo out of the middle, but the most impressive was when she ran a slide to the right side that scored. Offensively, she is a stud and a scoring threat each time she attempts a swing. We will be watching her closely to see where she falls for our next update to the Rankings. Oh...did I mention that she is a 2028 playing up in the 16's in Open?

[player_tooltip player_id='394052' first='Kyler' last='Birkelbach'] owned the net today on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I watched her stuff block a few would-be scorers and then demolish the ball on a quick. Her down swing is just as explosive as her footwork is when she drives hard toward the setter. Her TAV 17 Black Haroun team was celebrating her non-stop when I watched them for a set. In a world where left sides get most of the credit, it was very nice to see a middle take over a game by herself for a good portion of it. She is one to watch, so give her a few looks.

[player_tooltip player_id='482109' first='Sydney' last='Whisenton'] is just a cheat code at the 15's age group. Not only was she exploding off of the ground with ease and sending some bombs, but she was doing it with a super fast tempo on the left. If Alamo 15 Premier continues to run their offense that fast on the pins, everyone better watch out because it was very effective. Miss Whisenton looked angry when she hit the ball and I almost felt bad for the ball after she made contact. When I refer to “Cheat Code” from now on, it will be referencing Sydney.

[player_tooltip player_id='534325' first='Camille' last='Presley'] can be a shut down middle that all college coaches will fall in love with. Her presence at the net is huge and she backs it up with her play on every rep. There better be a double block on her each time, otherwise she will overpower a solo any day of the week and twice on Sunday. As an attacker, she was on fire for her Austin Performance 16 Adidas squad on day one. If this team is going to go far, I guarantee it will be due in large part to her play.

[player_tooltip player_id='443024' first='Justice' last='Rachal'] needs to be inspected for springs hidden in her legs because this young lady has mad hops that won't stop. Like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going. When you first look at her on the court during a 17 Open match, you would think that she would be a libero due to her size, but when she jumps, you can see that she is just as high as any other six-footer out there. She soars with the eagles as she approaches and thumps the ball to her opponent. It was very entertaining watching her attack the ball during a long rally with her [program_tooltip program_id='462263' first='TAV' last='Houston'] 17 Adidas squad.

There are many more amazing teams and players that will be written about. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. You can also DM me on Instagram or X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply reposting on X, Instagram or sharing on Facebook. Thanks for following Prep Dig Family!
