I might be the "Nebraska guy" with roots deeply entrenched in the Cornhusker State, but I'll take any opportunity to cross the Missouri River during the club season. Iowa has built quite a reputation on the prep volleyball scene, with can't-miss standouts occupying every position. We could have started our post-Iowa Clash positional conversations anywhere, but we're rolling with the setters.

Setter-hitter connections are thriving in the Iowa Region, and it's only February. That's a good omen for the qualifier gauntlet ahead.

Early-season tournaments provide vital reps for athletes like DeyErmand. This Millard South star is new to the Southwest Iowa Third Degree lineup and tightened her hitter connections through last weekend's event. Nebraska prep enthusiasts are already familiar with DeyErmand's steady hands, especially as she led Millard South to one of its best-ever fall seasons. Her command of the SWI3D 18 Black offense provided further testament to DeyErmand's veteran influence and rock-solid distribution.

We had to linger in the Great Plains Region a little longer. Snider was tabbed as one of our players to watch heading into the Iowa Clash, particularly among Nebraska's representatives in Des Moines. This Omaha Westside veteran took her show on the road and lifted Nebraska Elite 17-1 to a podium finish in the 17/18 Open division. Snider has seen plenty of big-time matches during her club career, so sparring with Iowa's powerhouses was par for the course. A fruitful February has primed Snider and her squad to take on the USAV circuit.

Of course, we had to include the tournament champs. Bott, like many of the other players we'll see on this list, can carry a dual role as a setter-hitter in any lineup. She dished a quick, precise offense for Manhattan Mayhem last weekend and had a knack for finding the hot hand at the right times. We didn't know what to expect from the Kansas crew in Des Moines, but Bott left an impression that will permeate our entire coverage of the 2026 season. This won't be the last time we see Manhattan Mayhem this spring.

The 17/18 Open podium is loaded with setter talent. Davis is another multi-position gem who can get the job done as a setter or a terminator. The Iowa Clash was a chance for Iowa PowerPlex 17U Mendoza to flex its versatility, adaptability, and ball-control strength in its home gym. Davis was a key cog in whichever lineup 17U Mendoza deployed and wasn't afraid to force her middles while off the net. That penchant for bold plays will suit Davis and her team well after last weekend's runner-up effort.

Bring on the 16s division champs. It was a full Iowa PowerPlex takeover at the top of this division, and Weiland was an instant standout among her Class of 2028 peers. She brought the physicality, finesse, and quick footwork we'd expect from an Iowa PowerPlex distributor. Weiland also brings a strong attacking pedigree after stuffing every statistical category with Southeast Polk High School last year. Perhaps the Iowa Clash is a launching point to more postseason success on the club side.

The 16s division was a perfect place to find the up-and-coming talent at Roots Volleyball Academy. Livingston already looks like a player to rally around after she piloted the 16U Jensen crew to a 4-2 record in Des Moines. This crafty setter never hesitated to set against the flow, keeping opposing blockers off balance with her unconventional style. Livingston combined that with the energy and competitive spirit that embodied the collective 16U Jensen mentality at the Iowa Clash. This team knew how to draw eyes and amp up its cheering section.

RISE 712's captain had a lot to do with the team's climb into 16s bracket play. Lohrmann brought infectious effort to the floor for her upstart team and left plenty of seams for her attackers. This feat is especially impressive given that Lohrmann climbs the age ladder from the Class of 2029. Her prep career has always been "ahead of schedule," as she became a first-year contributor for Kuemper Catholic in 2025. The Iowa Clash put a few more quality marks on Lohrmann's growing resume.
