Weiland impressed me a ton during an initial in-person scout last year at the Northern Lights National Qualifier. Unfortunately, I missed seeing her sophomore year at Southeast Polk this past season, when she led the Rams with 242 assists in 68 sets. Weiland ranked third in digs (174), and added 44 kills and 10.0 blocks. I would expect those numbers to rise significantly in 2026 after watching her compete with PowerPlex 16 Nelson at the ASICS Show Me National Qualifier during the middle of April in Kansas City. Weiland had gotten better at every aspect of the game since last seeing her in person a year ago. She takes advantage of athleticism and long arms to contribute across the board for her club squad. Weiland puts the ball on point to all parts of the net, making good choices and minimizing errors. With a strong right-side hitter, she’s especially efficient at setting the opposite pin. Weiland can put the ball down with a swing or dump, and defends at the net and in the back row, holding up well in serve-receive, too.

. The setter out of the Des Moines area has been quite the impact player for PowerPlex 16 Nelson. I was able to watch this team quite a bit at Triple Crown and her ability to better the ball was elite. She is someone who can terminate as an attacker or find a way for her attackers to put points on the board as a setter. A lot of these setters in this article are all around athletes with a diverse skill set. Weiland can do it all from defending in the backrow, being offensive at the net on the second contact, or scoring points as an attackers.

Bring on the 16s division champs. It was a full Iowa PowerPlex takeover at the top of this division, and Weiland was an instant standout among her Class of 2028 peers. She brought the physicality, finesse, and quick footwork we’d expect from an Iowa PowerPlex distributor. Weiland also brings a strong attacking pedigree after stuffing every statistical category with Southeast Polk High School last year. Perhaps the Iowa Clash is a launching point to more postseason success on the club side.

‘s composure stands out. She maintains poise during extended rallies and consistently delivers hittable balls off imperfect first contact. Her footwork is efficient, allowing her to stay balanced and repeatable through her release.
Weiland distributes well across all zones and doesn’t lock in on one attacker. She shows early recognition of when to accelerate tempo versus reset the offense. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
Why track her now: Her decision-making and calm presence project well into structured collegiate systems that value consistency.

just glides on the court. As a setter and right side attacker for PowerPlex 16 Nelson, she impacts the game in so many ways. As a setter it all starts with her footwork, she gets to the net quickly, she adjusts to her pass, and is smart with her decisions in who to get involved and when for attackers. With her skillset, this allows her side of the net to be really versatile. She can set from the front and backrow and be an attacker if needed. This 16 Nelson squad is going to be very dangerous this season. They went 6-2 at NIT this past weekend which will set them up for a big qualifier when they head to Sunshine in a couple weeks.

Weiland first caught my attention when watching her perform for PowerPlex’s top team during last year’s Northern Lights Qualifier and then again at the Iowa Regional. A sharp game at setter with an ability to effectively operate at the opposite pin illustrated versatility and impact. I didn’t get to see her line up for Southeast Polk as a sophomore this fall, but she proved productive by leading the team in assists and ranking third in digs. Weiland has continued her climb as a college volleyball prospect with her early-season exploits for Plex, which will be back in action at the Triple Crown Invite in Kansas City this weekend. Her latest highlights from this winter show us a setter capable of putting the ball precisely where her attackers can finish points. She mixes up her sets to keep defenses honest and can end rallies with her own attack. Weiland defends well at the net and in the back row.

Let’s stick with that PowerPlex 16U Nelson roster. Weiland joins this crew after logging a team high in assists and a large handful of kills with Southeast Polk High School. The sophomore has proven her willingness to guide a 5-1 offense or adapt to varying roles in a two-setter system. This kind of adaptability is a perfect fit for a showcase enviornment, and Weiland thrived at every stage of Sunday’s outing. Weiland and Nelson are poised to form quite the combo in the PowerPlex 16s camp.

I first witnessed Weiland in action during the Northern Lights qualifier and then at the Iowa regionals. She stood out both for her skill in setting up teammates with consistency and precision, and with an impressive swing from the opposite pin. Weiland is a good athlete with long arms and quick actions. She shows an excellent feel for the flow of the match and where it’s most advantageous to send the ball. Weiland took a step forward during the school ball season in helping Southeast Polk take a step forward and gain hope for more upward movement. Despite an injury, the sophomore dished out 242 assists in 68 sets. She added 44 kills, 174 digs and 10.0 blocks. Weiland has raised her stock in 2025 with plenty of room for further development.
