Latest 2027 Rankings: Who is the new player on the top?

The latest round of shuffling saw a huge development at the top. Sayre junior [player_tooltip player_id='535188' first='Brooke' last='Barntsen'] is having such an incredible club season, one had no choice but to put her at the top. Some have improved while injuries may be holding some back, but will have the chance to rebound once back on the court.    Barntsen (pictured) is simply dynamite when balls come to her hands. She has adjusted well to primarily setting in a 5-1 system in club season compared to doing a lot of everything in a 6-2 system at Sayre. MAVA 17 Select head coach Dan Palmer described her as a wonderful person who is catching onto concepts and implementing them quickly at a very high level. Barntsen can execute the jump quick and jump shoot sets so efficiently opponents can't blink or balls go whizzing by them. Barntsen is also blocking at a high level. She has great range on the court to track down balls, has a solid jump serve and can still take big swings when needed for 17 Select.     Duncan not only has great physical tools to dominate the net on the court, but she is also a great teammate off the court. Duncan has such a funny personality, she keeps her teammates loose in between games. She frustrates opponents with her sound blocking technique and gets on top of balls to crush them to different parts of the court. It helps she has played with a number of her 17 Elite teammates a good bit over the years.     Green can leap so well she is often on the other side of many of Barntsen's jump quick and shoot sets. She pounds balls to the ground quickly when she gets on top of them. Even double blocks can't slow her down often. Teams have to respect her so much it opens things up for teammates. Green does not dwell on mistakes. She simply makes things happen on the next swings.     At the beginning of her sophomore year, a West Jessamine assistant challenged Crutcher and the other hitters to go up with a purpose. Crutcher does that and a whole lot more signified by her team-high 527 kills on a balanced team this past fall. She takes advantage of many one-on-one opportunities in the middle and outside for both club and high school ball. Similar to Miller, she is not afraid to crack jokes off the court to keep her teammates loose.     Hensley's play has improved drastically since last club season and has continued to do so this club season. Hensley makes a lot of contributions to the loaded 17 Elite team with sound passes and rips from the middle and outside. Her size lets her hit over and around blockers many different ways. Hensley hopes to be freed up to do more things this fall for Lafayette with more balance, particularly from the middles, who will bring more varsity experience this season.
