Pin Attackers We’re Watching In The Class Of ‘28

We're halfway through our positional breakdowns of the new-and-improved class of 2028 rankings, and our pin attackers—-the kids getting the great majority of the attack opportunities—-are the feature today. Here are five from around the state that will DEFINITELY be turning heads for the remainder of the club season.    Ultimately carrying the Quakers on her back throughout their epic playoff run this past fall, Audrey is the primary passing, six-rotation attacker that is coveted at all levels of volleyball. Terminal when she needs to be and smart when things are out-of-system, Miss Utterback's innate ability to pick and choose her point-scoring moments looks embedded into her DNA. Earning the Open bid in Boston a couple of weeks ago, she's in the process of perfecting her craft—-and bringing the rest of her Circle 16 Purple squad with her.     More of a right side than a middle at the moment, Annabelle is a springy, terminating oppo with a whip for a right arm and a tough out when blocking. She's a three-rotation right side for her KiVA squad, but is slowly developing into the type of kid that needs to stay in the lineup for all six rotations. Very few right-handed right sides exist in this class, let alone ones that can score points at will for their respective squads. Miss Freels is one of those kids that can easily turn into a plug-and-play right side at the next level.     High-flying and terminal, Amaya is spending literally all of her free time developing the all-around game. Able to attack from anywhere and use her high attack touch to make a lot of blocks look obsolete, Amaya's quick transition, coupled with that high attack touch, turns her into Superwoman when in-system. Gravity looks optional for this young lady, as she might be the highest leaper in this class. In short, she should be treated as the primary attacker on any roster she's a part of.     Playing up a year on PHP's 17U squad, Elle has received a ton of high-end training while part of the Hoosier Region's representative at the National level. She's not playing as much as some of the others on this list, but her physical traits are obvious. Long arms, a high attack point and the ability to hit any angle in any situation at any time will carry her far in this recruiting process. She's the hidden gem from northern Indiana who will wow someone bold enough to offer a 6'2” outside that still has a ton of play left in her—-all with the physical attributes to play D1 ball.     This lefty banger on the right side has every shot in the book, and score on them all. Lengthy and lithe, she certainly has extra strength in her upper body that makes her sneaky good. With exceptional court vision, she has the ability to take what the defense gives her, all while adapting to a faster-than-average offense. In a few cases, she's hitting on her way down from her jump. Luckily, she's lengthy enough that her attack can still score points to all angles and at all paces.
