About Adelynn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

When playing the game, I look for different ways to my team to score. I find myself looking at the defense to notice details. Where do they start in base? Are they pulled up or deeper? I want to give my hitters the best chance of scoring by making the right play. When setting front row, I always look at who moves and who stays when I set, whether I should dump in front of me or behind.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I tend to be a slight introvert at first, but once you get to know me or I get more comfortable, I do come out of my shell. I love to encourage people and help them. I enjoy being playful and fun but know when it's time to be serious. I love to find the good in situations and help people find the good in themselves. I am I good listener and will always be willing to talk to someone if they need.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in my school's ambassador program, since I love to make people feel welcome. I also am a part of my school's Entrepreneurship program; I work at the coffee bar in my school. I do service projects through my school and got an award for getting over 30 hours of service in my first year of high school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have definitely developed more confidence in myself this year. I am confident in trusting my training, in the skill I bring as a volleyball player, and not being afraid to make mistakes. I am more on the perfectionist side, and I don't like to disappoint people, but I also remind myself that it's okay to make mistakes when being aggressive and that's how you get better.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A challenge I faced was 2 years ago during club, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was unable to take me to tournaments and other people had to step into her role. My mom is my biggest supporter, and I would not be the person I am today without her, so it was hard to not have her there. But this is when I started learning how to find motivation within myself and be determined.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that is welcoming and invested in players as athletes and as people. I want a college that's going to push both academic and athletic excellence. I want a good environment surrounded by coaches who value strong team dynamics, driven to play at their best, and find the joy in playing. I want to be able to have a well rounded college experience while also playing VB.
