Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
As a libero/ds, I feel like I need to lead and work to win every game. To do this, I concentrate on three things. First, I try to find out what makes other players and coaches, “tick.” When watching warm ups, I look for any patterns and weaknesses. Second, I use what I observed to help our hitters place the ball. Third, I have a, "no ball drops," mentality and keep the ball in play.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
My mentality is that I can always find a way to improve both on and off the court. I appreciate constructive criticism and incorporate changes in my game play. I know I’m not always perfect, but I strive to be in everything that I do. I always cheer loud for my teammates especially for the smaller things. Even on my bad mental days, I strive to be positive and supportive of my teammates.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I attend a college- and career-ready school called Elkhorn Crossing and study Biomedical Science. For this, I have received a stethoscope in 2023 and a white coat in 2024. I have also received the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Academic Honorable Mention Award in both 2023 and 2024.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have developed communication and leadership skills while playing volleyball. I have learned to communicate with my teammates by sharing what I see on the other side of the court, like what areas are open and where weak spots are to increase our scoring advantage. I have also developed leadership by being able to call shots and plays without sounding bossy or demanding.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One challenge was when I lost my Nana to Covid on Christmas 2020. I was out of town during her sickness & missed practices with my 12u team resulting in a loss of playing time. I was offered to drop to a lower team to play all six rotations but instead chose to fight for playing time on my current team. I gained the respect of my coach because of my courage and tenacity and got more playing time.
What type of college are you looking for?
The college I'm looking for is one where the buildings for my major are close together, the food is good, there are quality dorms and a nice campus landscape. I want to feel welcomed on the team or feel like I’ve known them for a long time. I have a big family and love a family feel. I’m also looking for a college that has great teachers and coaches who will push me to always be my best.
