She’s stepping onto varsity as a freshman at Orange Lutheran, and she knows that means competing against older, more experienced players from day one. A quote from a coach reshaped how she thinks about her own game, that motivation shouldn’t be what drives her, discipline should, and that shift pushed her to bring the same intensity to practice that she wants to bring to games. Perry’s college dreams are set on the Division I level, and she understands what that requires, consistent daily work toward that goal. She comforts teammates after a rough play or a bad practice, reminding them that one moment doesn’t define them as a player or a person, and she wanted to be part of the Freshman Showcase for the exposure and the chance to sharpen her skills against other talented athletes.

Blake Perry Blake Perry 5'11" | OH/RS Orange Lutheran | 2030 CA , an Outside Hitter and Middle from Woodcrest Christian Middle School, was selected by coaches Aleela Duncan and Darlene Staker as their MVP choice at the SoCal UpNext Showcase. They highlighted her versatility and praised the way she attacked with confidence, making smart shot selections and continuing to swing with determination even after mistakes. Blake’s attention to cleaner passing and quicker defensive reads was evident, along with her ability to stay balanced, read hitters early, and direct her teammates through strong communication.

What sets Blake apart is her maturity and her eagerness to grow. She takes pride in being coachable and adaptable, always looking to use feedback as a way to raise her game. Her goals this season include improving her vertical, refining her passing, and becoming an even stronger defender, and the showcase gave her the chance to push those skills against top competition.
