About Brenna
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I would describe my gameplay style as relentless, focused, and team-first. I’m committed to strong court awareness, consistent serve receive, and reading hitters to keep plays alive. I bring energy, communication, and leadership to the back row, always working to support my teammates and create a strong foundation for our offense.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I have a competitive but calm mentality and I stay focused on what the team needs. I’m coachable, hard-working, and bring a positive attitude to every practice and game. I lead through communication and hustle, and I’m always looking for ways to grow and help my teammates succeed. My faith in God is really important to me, and it guides how I work and play.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
National Junior Honor Society
Student Council-Class of 2028 Representative
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I’m a member of the National Junior Honor Society and serve as a BNHS Class of 2028 Student Council Representative. I also work part time as a Teacher’s Assistant at Le Jardin Academy in Kailua during the summers. These experiences have helped me develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that I bring to everything I do both on and off the volleyball court.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One challenge for me is having family in both Texas and Hawai'i. I am Portuguese/Native Hawaiian, so Hawai'i is part of my heritage. We live in Texas during the school year and spend summers on island. It’s hard missing people no matter where I am, because home for me is really in two places. Volleyball helps me feel connected—I have gyms, coaches, and friends in both places.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college with strong academics and a competitive volleyball program where I can grow as both a student and an athlete. I want to be part of a team that works hard, pushes each other to improve, and competes at a high level.
