Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
We have a VCNebraska trifecta. Talbott joined the 17 Elite crew this season and has influenced the team’s lineup in various ways. The Norris junior has established herself as a frontcourt weapon, but Talbott can make a splash even when she’s not at the net. Talbott is also a stout middle-back defender and can handle the gauntlet of tough serves dished out in the 17 Open division. GJNC will offer further opportunities to soar.

Talbott is a true Swiss army knife for VCNebraska 17 Elite. Her native position is on the right pin, where Talbott can dish out impressive swings into the open court. However, this Norris standout also has vast experience in the back row and can anchor the middle-back area as a DS. It’s an unusual set of skills for an opposite, but Talbott embraces this role and performs it well. Her consistent contributions will be crucial to getting 17 Elite back to USAV Nationals.

We have one more example of a player thriving in a new club gym. Talbott moved to VCNebraska this year and is finding various ways to contribute to the club’s top 17s squad. She’s primarily a right-side hitter who brings an impressive combination of attacking power and blocking prowess. However, Talbott can also anchor a backcourt position when her number is called. 17 Elite experimented with plenty of lineup combinations last weekend, and Talbott can be a focal point in many of them.

Back at it again. Talbott missed some action during last year’s club season but made a seamless transition back into the Nebraska ONE 16 Black lineup. We got an immediate reminder of how many ways Talbott can influence this talented team. She showed no signs of rust when attacking along the net as a right-side hitter. Talbott can also anchor the defense as a defensive specialist, particularly in the middle-back area. Her resurgence was a big early storyline during the Midwest Power League, and Talbott continued her climb through the qualifier grind.

We’re thrilled to see Talbott back in the Nebraska ONE lineup in 2024. She’s making an injury comeback this year and is already back to crushing balls on the right side. Talbott also brings the kind of passing prowess you might not expect to see from an opposite. This allows her to influence matches even if she’s not in the front row. That’s the true team-first spirit that yielded a 16 Open championship at the Presidents’ Day Classic.

Talbott’s return to the court was a welcomed sight. She had a strong start to the 2023 club season with Nebraska ONE 15 Black before being sidelined with an injury. Not only was Talbott back in action at the Top 250 Expo, but she also reminded us of her positional versatility at the event. Talbott was listed as a defensive specialist but did her share of left-side attacking along the net. This explains her excellent instincts in Zone 6, and Talbott will likely bring a similar impact in the upcoming club campaign.

It’s not surprising to see ball control as a core strength for a Nebraska ONE team. 15 Black has kept up that tradition this year, and players like Talbott help make it happen. The Norris defensive specialist has thrived in a variety of spots in the backcourt rotation, particularly in left-back and middle-back. Talbott can wear a few different hats for Nebraska ONE. Lately, she’s been a lockdown defensive specialist who can dime passes and lead 15 Black’s floor defense. But, if needed, Talbott can also thrive on the right pin and be part of a dynamic two-setter offense.
