Delaney Lauer continues to establish herself as one of the most dynamic attackers in 4A. She plays with confidence and does a great job finding ways to score in a variety of situations. Additionally, she stays composed when facing tough defensive matchups and understands how to use the entire court. Whether the rally is in system or breaks down, Lauer consistently finds opportunities to put pressure on opposing defenses.

Playing up on 17 Black, Delaney Lauer continues to show why she’s such a reliable offensive option. When rallies drift out of system, Lauer doesn’t panic. Instead, she evaluates what is available and makes smart choices. She sees the block well and understands how to create scoring opportunities even without a perfect set. Additionally, her ability to attack from both the front and back row gives her team another option when structure breaks down. She remains available in transition and consistently finds ways to stay involved. Out-of-system volleyball often rewards players who can problem-solve, and Lauer does exactly that.

Lauer shows a strong feel for the game in out-of-system situations. She doesn’t rush swings or take unnecessary risks—instead, she stays composed and makes smart decisions based on what’s available. Her timing stays consistent, and she does a good job recognizing where she can score versus when to extend the rally. That balance makes her a reliable option when the play isn’t clean.

Lauer’s placement reflects her advanced feel for the game and ability to contribute in every rotation. Competing up a level, she shows composure and decision-making that translate against stronger competition. She scores efficiently, defends with discipline, and remains a steady presence in serve receive. Her six-rotation value and maturity give her an edge in this spot.

Her decision-making stands out; she doesn’t force swings that aren’t there. Defensively, she’s disciplined with a consistent split step and strong court awareness. In serve receive, she’s steady. Front row or back row, she’s available and can be terminal from both spots — the definition of a six rotation pin.

I was able to see Delaney Lauer live at the Northern Lights Qualifier where she was one of the top attackers in the 17 Open field.  Lauer is a six rotation outside who can serve receive, defend, and score points in a variety of ways.  She has athleticism and physicality that allows her to power through the split of a block, hit a sharp angle, or tool the block.  She is having quite the sophomore year where she led her high school team to Class 4A and being named Player of the Year.  There is an upside to her game that will transfer well to the next level.  As she continues her backcourt progression she will be a premier recruit about 2028s throughout the country. 

Even as a sophomore, Lauer played like a seasoned pro. She attacked with confidence, ran smart plays, and proved she can handle pressure. This is a name to remember for years to come.

Lauer put up one of the biggest underclassman stat lines in all of 4A, finishing with 402 kills (4.2 per set) while hitting .353. That combination of volume and production is rare for a young pin. She swings with confidence, finds the angles, and brings a competitive edge that lifts her entire team. With her size, power, and ability to score from either pin, Lauer is a breakout candidate heading into club season.
