About Diane
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My gameplay is energized by a passion for the sport. I believe in celebrating successes, big and small, with my teammates. This positive energy and shared enthusiasm contribute to a fun and successful environment on the court. While always focusing, reflecting, fighting my hardest and getting the next point no matter the outcome.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I'm driven by a strong team-first mentality. I believe in contributing my all to the collective effort, always striving to elevate the game of volleyball through dedication and sportsmanship. I approach every match with passion and determination, leaving everything on the court regardless of the circumstances. For me, volleyball is more than just a game.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Beyond my athletic pursuits, I'm deeply involved in my school and community. I was honored to receive the American Citizenship Award in 8th grade for organizing a donation drive to support young women in need. I'm an active member of several organizations, including Black Student Union, Women of Westfield, Unified Sports and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which I love participating in.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through playing volleyball, I've developed strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Understanding my teammates' strengths and weaknesses allows me to effectively contribute to our collective success. I've also learned to lead by example, using clear communication and a positive attitude to motivate my team and lead the backrow.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Volleyball is inherently challenging. Every day brings new obstacles for me to overcome, from technical errors to tough losses and injuries. However, I embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth. Each hurdle, once cleared, leads to invaluable lessons and breakthroughs, ultimately making the journey that much more rewarding.
What type of college are you looking for?
I'm searching for a college that offers both a strong volleyball program and a nurturing, close-knit community. I want a place that feels like home, where I can grow both as an athlete and an individual, surrounded by teammates who feel like family.
