I first noticed Eileen Kim Eileen Kim 5'5" | S Oakton | 2029 State VA when she set for a talented Virginia Juniors 14 team. She still sets for them at 15 but her game has notched up a level. For one, she appears to set a 5/1 for Virginia Juniors for the most part, instead of just setting the back row. Asking a setter who stands just 5’5″ to set a 5/1 tells you the coach exudes a lot of confidence in her ability to set.

Virginia Juniors does have Angelina Yan Angelina Yan 5'4" | S McLean | 2029 State VA who they can also call on to set to run a 6/2. Last year Eileen set for the Oakton Junior Varsity team. This summer she has set the Virginia Juniors team to a Liberty Bid, which could turn into a USA bid after Paramount Nick won an Open bid.

Virginia Juniors will play in the Salt Lake City showdown as well as the East Coast championships at the end of May.

She set a 5/1 for Virginia Juniors. One of those new players who have yet to appear in our rankings. She is not especially tall and last year played on the Oakton junior varsity team. However, she stood out for her play running the offense, even jumping high enough to put up a solo block on the right side.

A coach has to really like how a setter runs their offense when she is not especially tall but she is still used in the front row to set. Megan Phan Megan Phan 5'7" | S Bullis | 2026 State VA for Virginia Juniors is that type of setter. Claire Mo Claire Mo 5'9" | S Langley | 2026 State VA and Caycee Chhum Caycee Chhum 5'7" | S Georgetown Day | 2027 State VA both from Metro are two others. Perhaps soon the name of Eileen Kim Eileen Kim 5'5" | S Oakton | 2029 State VA will be added to that list.
