Sanchez, a senior starting libero for Camas, is a top notch passer, hustling for every single ball that crosses the plane of the net. She passes dimes on serve receive, staying calm and composed, letting the ball come to her. She has a quick reaction time to offensive hits, sprawling and recovering quickly for the next ball that might come her way.

The junior libero may not get all the hype of some of her high-flying attackers, but she is the lynchpin of the Papermakers back-row defense. She racked up 28 digs in a win over Columbia River and did a terrific job of reading her blockers and the opposing hitters to be in the best possible position to make a dig.

The rising junior from Camas looks to be another outstanding defender at a school that keeps producing them year after year. Sanchez traveled with Athena 16 Gold to Las Vegas and finished with a 5-5 record in the American Division. She delivered from the service line, sending over a flat jump float from the far left service line that consistently kept opposing setters working from behind the 10″ line. Sanchez is a good passer of serves that are well in front of her, she will get low and drop to a knee to give her team a solid pass. Solid athleticism completes the package, Sanchez is quick to the ball and can run down tips and shots to the corners.

Sanchez has played a pivotal role in the success of Athena 16-1 Gold, and her talents will be put to use as the team competes in the 16 American division at USAV Nationals. Her defensive game is top-notch, showcasing incredible range in which she covers a lot of space on the court. She makes opposing attacker’s jobs difficult with her ability to sprawl out and fly all over the place to save a ball. Sanchez does not back down.

We were able to see Sanchez play as the libero for Athena 16-1 Gold. Sanchez played great defense off some really tough attacks, putting up playable balls well and keeping the ball alive. Sanchez remained consistent on serve receive throughout the weekend, too.

Sanchez had an outstanding club season for Oregon Juniors, and the Camas sophomore will be a part of an excellent Papermaker defense this fall. Her length allows her to reach tips and off-speed shots in the corners and along the net, Sanchez is versatile enough to take a solid swing if needed as well.
