About Jocelynn
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
Quick off the net and committed to closing blocks, showing good timing and hand discipline. Offensively, runs quick sets effectively and is learning to expand shot selection beyond hard-driven balls, including tips and off-speed attacks. Brings high energy and communication to the front row, constantly working to read setters and attackers.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I approach the game with a growth mindset. I know I’ve had physical limitations in the past, but I’ve committed myself to consistent hard work and training to close that gap. I take pride in being coachable, and willing to push through challenges. I thrive on competition, but I also value being a great teammate who brings energy and focus every day. My mentality is to never be satisfied.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Outside of high school volleyball, I play for Circle City Volleyball Club. Academically, I was part of the Jr National Honor Society in middle school, where I also served as president of my school’s chapter. I have consistently earned High Honor Roll every grading period throughout my academic career. In addition, I’ve dedicated countless hours to volunteering in the community through my ministry.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through volleyball, I’ve developed strong teamwork and communication skills, as I’ve learned how important it is to trust and support my teammates on and off the court. Serving as president of my Jr. National Honor Society taught me leadership, responsibility, and how to motivate others toward a common goal. My consistent academic success has helped me build discipline and time management skills.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Early in my freshman season, I faced a major setback when I tore ligaments in my ankle and was sidelined for four months. During that time, I committed myself to physical therapy and worked hard to rebuild my strength. Although the injury kept me out of club tryouts, I was still offered a spot with a strong club team. Coming back from that challenge made me more resilient and driven.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a high-academic university where I can pursue a degree in the medical field, with the long-term goal of attending medical school. I want a program that will challenge me both athletically and academically and support my goals on and off the court.
