About Kristen
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
As a middle blocker, my gameplay style is quick, smart, and team-focused. I prioritize fast transitions between blocking and hitting, and I work hard to read the setter to close blocks efficiently. I love leading the energy at the net, whether it’s with a big block or a quick kill off a fast set. Including being observant and communicating with those on my team.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I bring a competitive but coachable mindset to every practice and game. I’m always looking to improve, whether it’s through feedback or extra reps. I stay positive and supportive of my teammates. On and off the court, I’m focused, driven, and all about growth. Even if it means making mistakes during the process.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am involved in a volleyball volunteering organization where I teach little kids how to play volleyball. Including how to have a good mindset, how to improve techniques, and how to have fun during the process.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through volleyball, I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills. I’ve learned how to communicate clearly, stay positive under pressure, and help bring out the best in my teammates. These experiences have helped shape me into a more responsible, respectful, understanding, and supportive person on and off the court.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is balancing academics, training, and personal time. There have been moments where I’ve had to push through mental blocks or bounce back from tough losses. I’ve also dealt with the pressure of performing well in tryouts and big moments. But each challenge has helped me grow mentally stronger, more disciplined, and more focused.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college that values both strong academics and a competitive volleyball program. I want a school where I can grow as an athlete and a student, with coaches who support development and a team culture that feels like family. I’m also interested in a campus that encourages leadership, and community involvement. I want to ensure that my college years are fun and enjoyable as well.
