Updated Wisconsin 2027 Rankings: Who’s Going D1?

The Prep Dig Class of 2027 rankings have been updated.  We'll be sifting through various athletes who will be heading into their senior season and today we will take a look at the D1 commits.  There are currently 21 athletes that have given their verbal at the Division 1 level.  For athletes who are aspiring to play at the collegiate level, take a look at where these Wisconsin athletes are going.  This always helps when there is a connection to schools and having Wisconsin at these schools is a little note athletes can put in an email to college coaches. 

Going Coastal - “East Coastal”

Taking a look at the list of athletes, there are some who will be playing in the ACC or will be going to the East Coast.  Lauren Sprague Lauren Sprague 5'9" | OH/DS/L Waunakee | 2027 State WI (Notre Dame), Addison Kelenic Addison Kelenic 6'2" | MB Catholic Memorial | 2027 State #146 Nation WI (Wake Forest), and Lauren Tisler Lauren Tisler 6'1" | OH/RS West De Pere | 2027 State WI (Boston College) will be going to the ACC.  Sprague is the top ranked prospect in the Class of 2027 with her ability to serve receive, pass, and score in a variety of ways.  Another Wisconsin prospect at Notre Dame she will join is Anna Bjork from Oconomowoc/ Milwaukee Sting .  Kelenic follows another Sting and even a Catholic Memorial alum in Elena Dragani who enters her senior year as a Demon Deacon.  Gigi Chasco Gigi Chasco 6'0" | S/RS Wisconsin Lutheran | 2027 State WI and Ashley Ray Ashley Ray 5'7" | DS WI will make the trip from Wisconsin to Ft. Myers, Florida to play for Florida Gulf Coast. Other East Coast commits will be Charlotte Hayes Charlotte Hayes 6'0" | RS/OH Oconomowoc | 2027 State WI who is heading to Marist in New York and Sierra Hoeft Sierra Hoeft 5'10" | S/RS Port Washington | 2027 State WI has committed to New Hampshire. 

Green Bay Continues Building In-State Roster

On the 2026 Green Bay roster, 13 of the 18 athletes come from Wisconsin.  They continue that trend with their Class of 2027 commits bringing in Ellisyn Shultis Ellisyn Shultis OH Fond du Lac | 2027 State WI out of Fond du Lac and Addison Schmidt Addison Schmidt 6'2" | MB/RS Rice Lake | 2027 State WI from Rice Lake.  Shultis has been playing for FC Elite where she has shown she can score points at a high level.  She has a high contact point where she can also locate the open spots.  She is a scorer out of the back court as well. Schmidt is a unique talent where she will also be part of the Green Bay Women's Basketball team.  She has been to the state tournament in both sports and will be fun to track when she gets to Green Bay. 

Climbing The “Summit” 

There has been a pattern of Wisconsin athletes who have been heading to the Summit League. From the 2027 Class the following athletes will be going to the Summit:

Madelyn Reesman Madelyn Reesman 6'1" | MB Burlington | 2027 State WI - St. Thomas

Alyssa Gray Alyssa Gray 6'3" | MH WI - South Dakota State

Makennah Peterson Makennah Peterson 6'3" | MB/OH Baraboo | 2027 State WI - North Dakota State

St. Thomas has three Wisconsin preps on their roster, led by Morgan Kealy of River Falls who was the setter of the year in the conference last season.  South Dakota State also has three Wisconsin athletes on their current roster, featuring Sylvie Zgonc who prepped at Sussex Hamilton and has been the two time Summit Player of the Year.
