After spending her 7th grade season as primarily a defensive specialist on the varsity where she tallied 147 digs and 37 aces, Garness heads into 8th grade poised for a much larger role. This year, she’ll be asked to contribute more on the pins, and she will be ready for the challenge. Like many Mabel-Canton players, Garness has a strong volleyball foundation, but it’s rumored that she also spends time competing in beach volleyball. That experience will be a major asset as she transitions to the front row, as beach players are known for their versatility, creativity, and ability to score in a variety of ways. With her defensive background and offensive game IQ, Garness has the potential to become one of the team’s most complete players this season.
