Notre Dame barrages defensive specialists all game long from a variety of angles. Dawson did not back down despite that challenge. She dug up a number of the tough crosses to keep plays alive. If she did not track down the ball, she still gave a great effort going after those balls.

Dawson had a solid tournament making first contacts. The Tigers faced a number of tough hitters in the tournament, but Dawson consistently squared her body up to balls and made precise two to three-point passes. Dawson said practicing against Beechwood’s strong hitters along with Coach Long and assistants hit at the defensive specialists all the time to prepare for strong hitters.

The libero owns the back row for the Tigers. She makes sound first touches on bump passes, only diving when necessary, yet under control. Dawson flew in to make a pancake dig on one play. Dawson dug up Minor several times in the win. Dawson also had sound serving to keep Scott out of system. Dawson said first touches and serving are prioritized in practice, noting the sound passing gave them the upper hand with three hitting options on almost every set.
